LinkedIn is definitely good for making professional connects and establishing a good network of people that can help you get to the next level of your career.

I wasn't keen on it at first, but ever since I signed on I've been exposed to new opportunities and seen vacancies I otherwise wouldn't have.

June will mark 5 years of no Facebook for me. I initially went off for a month to focus on studying for exams and after exams were done, I realised I never missed it.

I never even spoke to half of my friends on there, and I didn't even have that many to begin with (by FB standards). I think I had somewhere around 150 friends, whilst most people I knew had +500 (One dude even had like 6000 "friends" on there:dwillhuh:). It was then that I realised Facebook was a waste of time and decided to stay off.

Was also getting tired of people basically lying about how "perfect" their lives were and man, all those corny-ass "deep" and philosopical status updates:comeon:

Nice thing is, now when I bump into someone I haven't seen in a few years, I don't need to pretend like I don't know what they've been doing since we last spoke:mjlol:

Don't like Facebook but use it to keep in.touch with my circle and people to keep in touch with me. Don't really put myself out there like that because I just don't feel like it. There's times when I'm tempted to bs around but then I do care about the impression I make as jobs and employers do look it up to see the character of the person they employ. I'm a good person and fairly private though and I let that shyt reflect my Facebook page

What turns up when y'all Google your government names? For me, a whole bunch of stuff appears, but luckily it is all good stuff :thumbsup:. My accomplishments at school, my github, ... etc. Is it totally honest? NOOOooo!! Will it help me while looking for future employment opportunities? Undoubtedly yes ...

I post beats on facebook but not many people are interested though.

Man, as long as you are not using it for bs, or to air out your personal, controversial views then that is alright with me. I have a similar thing wwith my twitter. i created it a month or two ago to "advertise" my work accomplishments but it doesn't look like it is attracting any positive interest .... etc. Just gotta keep grinding.

I know its the fashion to hate on facebook and "social media" but honestly if you have a clear understanding of what you are getting out of it and are using it for the right reasons then you are straight.
