wow this post is so sad and ignorant

it's sad that people are so selfish that they think like this

by the way, he actually ADVERTISES that he will provide a unique (which is the exact word that you used)

strategy

Frequently Asked Questions | Game Changer Meetings

"We connect you directly with leaders in various industries to give you unique knowledge and education that only a true Game Changer could provide"

I could just tell you're never going to make it in the business world. You should just give up now and go back to that 9 to 5 life where you belong.

Sounds like the OP learned a valuable business lesson.

Not sure why you're upset though. You asked a general question so you got a general answer. Sounds like you wasted his time and not the other way around.

You had a face to face with damon and blew it. You have to sell yourself to him and get him interested.. he doesnt need you or your money and He was probably annoyed cause you were unprepared and asking him stuff you should already know or thats easily researchable. Thats why he told you to go read some books.

Next time come with a plan and specifics you need addressed and how he can help you and how it will benefit him.

whoooooaaaaa where did you come up with all these assumptions??

do you realize all the negative assumptions you've made about me??

I mean jesus, we should always be skeptical and ofcourse he isn't here to tell his side of the story

but damn, it sounds like you got your mind made up already, like you was there at the meeting lol

OP, you paid $2000 to learn the most important lesson you will ever learn.

Nobody gives a shyt about you unless your success contributes to theirs

You will be a better businessman after this....well worth $2000.

Its just unfortunate that it was the last of your money. Sorry man, sucks to be scammed. Hope you can find success.

great post, that's exactly what I learned from this situation

I'm not gonna lie, if I'd have seen that ad, i'm 80% sure I would have thought he was trying to rip people off first glance. If it wasn't for the name attached to it I'd have written it off with all the other half baked sleazy scams people run across you every once in a while.

30 minutes? You barely have time to explain your business. Even on Shark Tank the pitches are around 45 minutes long (later edited down to 5-6 minutes by the studio for TV) so...that's like no time at all for anything. And then to charge 2 bands on top of that..:dame:

You're probably right though, when you have that little amount of time you should plan ahead big time.. but even then, there's no guarantee he would have given you some sort profound insight that you didn't think about before. Thats why...ugh. That's why Im so paranoid when people ask for pay in advance..it's just asking for trouble.

exactly, it kills me that some people are calling me a sucker

I mean, this is Daiimond Johnn, not some dude from down the street

And as far as the 30mns shyt, it's important to realize that BEFORE the meeting, I filled out a detailed questionnaire

that he was supposed to look over

a questionaire, that asked ALL the important questions regarding my company

Unless your product sells itself you're going to have to do some sort of re-engagment or convincing for your customers. Not sure what you expected damon to tell you. He aint gonna give you the sauce breh. You gotta figure that out.

But where you messed up was not utilizing the opportunity to establish a relationship with damon. That really should have been your number 1 focus going in. Business is all about relationships and damon has a powerful network. 1 phone call could change your life.

You shouldnt have left that room with his direct contact info and some type of follow up. Even if just to tell him your thoughts on the book he told you to read. If not him then his assistant. Thats really what you paid for. The opportunity to establish a relationship with him.

ok now this is a good post, no speculating or making negative assumptions....

but the reason why I didn't do that is because I was literally in shock during and after the meeting

like, what just happened?

why did he give me all this common sense, generic advice?

did he actually just sneak diss me?

damn, did I really just wasted my last $2,000?

ya feel me? lol like, allot of shyt was running through my mind

I felt so bad after the meeting that I didn't even feel comfortable asking for something like that

the whole vibe was just off

I mean, this was a dude that was looking out the window while I was talking to him lol

Altruism doesn't work. People aren't going to help you and not get anything in return. These volunteers will probably give out the same generic advice as DJ did.
Y'all love sharing pointless negativity. Tell it to your diary...:camby:

The organization is set up to connect new business owners with experienced business owners who want to help. You meet with an advisor weekly to put together a plan and implement it. If you don't like the advice you can ask for another advisor or just stop going. It costs NOTHING

I HAD to reply to this @D.C Young...

First of all, don't feel too bad. The loss of $ sucks really bad, but you sound like you have a way to possibly get it back.

To the people saying that Daymond gave sound advice, that's b.s. - Gary Vee gives 1000x better advice for free on Youtube, Twitter and snapchat, and tailors it so crisp for specific problems its crazy. And Gary Vee has hundred million dollar businesses as well, and a digital agency wth 600 employees lol.

Now, my biz partner, who is a well known young entrepreneur in Philly actually told me a similar story, which is crazy. He didn't pay for a one on one, but went to a book signing and speech, and said the speech was crazy wack because it was generic info, and when he talked to him one on one, he felt like dude was ignoring him and then started talking to someone else - and my biz partner is def not a lame dude in the slightest.

Here's what I say - if you serious about talking about your project, I got 30 minutes tomorrow late afternoon that you and I can talk about it on the phone. I co-run a creative agency, on the management team of a new product that just launched with a worldwide known celebrity, and done a few other things. I'm not saying I'm GaryVee or Daymond John, but I feel bad that that happened to you, and maybe I can give you 30 minutes of my time just to pay it forward.

PM me if you want to holla and we can set a time.

OP-
Have you heard of SCORE. It's a non profit organization that lets you meet regularly with an business advisor for 100% free. They have volunteers all over the country

Office of Entrepreneurial Development | Resources | The U.S. Small Business Administration | SBA.gov

yeah I did that like twice already

and yeah, they just give out generic advice, nothing special

I think it might be a cool thing though if you are a recent immigrant to this country or some shyt

and arent familiar with the business culture of the U.S

but other then, it's nothing special

Ya'll are some jerkoffs if you really can't see a problem with charging top dollar for that lame kindergarten advice. He wasn't doing charity work, he got paid 2k for 30 minutes and couldn't bother to offer anything beyond a 5 minute google search. Ya'll are crazy, I would be fukking pissed. If you call that business then i got some boys in Nigeria who would like to speak with you.

I feel for the breh but that's how consulting goes if you're not an incredibly big business. And even then you can be swindled for some shyt your team probably could've come up with in a few days. In fact, those fees seem kinda light. He's right to be pissed and feel ripped off but also thems the breaks.

“She’s rich. She founded some company that sells water bottles to rich people to pay for digging wells in Africa. She sold the company so now she works whenever she wants. It’s a scam called consulting.”–Nick, explaining to Winston why his new girlfriend can just hang out for three days at a time, New Girl

REALLY GIVES OUT GREAT ADVICE AND CARES ABOUT PEOPLE!!!!

I recently became familiar with him through the breakfast club and have been watching his interviews/keynotes

and dude is the truth!

I hope to meet him one day in real life. I hope he's like that in real life as he is on camera!

I'ma holla at you on the PM, appreciate it!

I do feel you on that though....people generally are selfish

I see where you and some of the other people in this thread are coming from...I really do

I've had a other situation too with a highschool friend who became a millionaire (and is also from the same African culture as I am)

and he never decided to help me out either...I thought he would look out for me because we're from the same culture, but nah

within the last two years, I've been starting to realize just how selfish and how much most people lack integrity

and that is something hard for me to grasp, and not because I'm a sucker

but because I'm such a honorable and good hearted dude

so I can't even FATHOM that people would behave like that

I even talked about it in this post

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/ever...-was-daimond-john.456359/page-2#post-20654256

but my issue was more specific (and perhaps more legal) because they actually ADVERTISED it as him giving out UNIQUE advice

but its all good though, aint nobody crying over here, it's been a great learning experience

I'm glad to be in the greatest business environment in the world and real hustlers get it back :tu:
