i think people need to stop treating this statement like its Elon Musk's idea. He's stating the obvious - the writing is painfully all over the wall at this point. a single fighter costs millions to maintain. not even getting to the equipment, training, take off/landing requirements, etc. the defense industry's pivot happened years ago after watching armenia fr anyway

we have seen cheap ass drones absolutely shred armored vehicles and hardened infrastructure for years now, saturate and defeat modern air defense networks, provide overwatch and support, enter the naval domain, and prove that they can be adapted damn near over night to meet changing battlefield conditions lol

and if operational range is the limit people are focused on, then why would you assume that you can't load up a cargo plane with these? a boat? and so on

Is there a specific operational time checklist for something to be effective? Do mine-laying drones not exist specifically to drop heat then let enemy find out all about days or weeks later? Did they not enable a country with no functional navy to successfully attack and sink Russian ships?

I don't have twitter/X, so I'm not going through a full thread of it. feel free to type it out or something but i'm kinda over people trying to have another person's shorthand thoughts argue a point for them - especially when this is kinda already on another tangent.

I don't get how people can say its not a big deal when the amount of Russian tanks shredded by drones is staggering and country with no navy is out here sinking ships.
