In terms of anti terroism and reconnaissance I think drones are the future. But as for full scale combat atm im not so sure.
Imo I think this is just Elon saying stupid shyt in order to “promote his genius” or next business venture. Plenty of Defense contractors are already invested in drone technology and have made platforms with dozens of flight hours. Just because theyre not doing a coordinated dance doesnt mean they are lacking in the area.
Looks like Elon is trying to shoe horn his way into defense contracting for drones with his buddy Trump.

It’s just not a viable strategy to fighting a war with nothing but drones
They have a place but not replacing multimillion dollar high performance machines with multi role capability piloted by well trained officers

He’s not wrong but should know that the US doesn’t need the jingoistic flexes that other nations do and just because the US isn’t putting on displays it doesn’t mean we couldn’t. Also, the US defense industry is eating good off those F-35s and they’re produced in the same right wing strongholds that he should be trying to increase supper from given his political aspirations.
