Idk if it’s been asked already. But how will states get funding for education? Will it be population based? More kids in the state = more money for education? Who is going to reign in these racist states?

My kid is going to be starting kindergarten when trumps term ends and, if these education changes actually happen, we are going to have to put him in private school.

Read an article yesterday on CNN of all places. Most states get about 10% of their funding from the federal government. Everything else is paid by state and local taxes. Population dense areas will be fine, and actually might “benefit” from school choice since you are locked into school zones wherever you live.

Rural areas that only have 1 school though?

Our eldest started K this year and our youngest starts in 9 months, I now regret not having them earlier like a couple friends did because both of there’s only have about 3 or 4 years left.

That might be the move, maybe. Unions still work for private companies too (see Starbucks and Amazon). We chose a charter school because we live in a primarily white neighborhood and the public school was by and large run all by white women where the charter we chose actually has two brehs I marched in band with in college much less a more diverse teaching body.
Privatization of education is def where we are headed, so exactly what they did with prisons.

They mostly do. Problem was the DoE became useless because they were always at odds with State admins. DoE withholds funding if you don't comply with their demands. That's not usually a bad thing, but when test scores aren't improving you have to wonder why the DoE budget is so large and who is getting the money.

I don't think the DoE necessarily has to be closed, but a revamp is needed if we're going to have one. As of now, the Department of Education isn't helping to educate anyone and is just a piggybank for grifters.
