They mostly do. Problem was the DoE became useless because they were always at odds with State admins. DoE withholds funding if you don't comply with their demands. That's not usually a bad thing, but when test scores aren't improving you have to wonder why the DoE budget is so large and who is getting the money.

I don't think the DoE necessarily has to be closed, but a revamp is needed if we're going to have one. As of now, the Department of Education isn't helping to educate anyone and is just a piggybank for grifters.

The Federal government is too bloated. They misappropriate Tax payer dollars and the citizens are left in shambles with a lack of support and resources

The DOE exist to keep segregation from happening. It allowed the federal government to monitor schools in the state. With it gone we’ll see a push for charter schools that continue to be used to reintroduce segregation across the country.

My aunt is a teacher and was talking about this on Facebook. She feels indifferent about it. It really can't get any worse for kids. She's been teaching since the 90s and has not been a fan of phonics no longer being the standard of teaching kids how to read (the method most 90s kids and earlier learned).
