There are a lot of powerful and amoral people in the national security apparatus and the non-tech wealthy elite in this country. Don't forget, Elon and Peter Thiel/Alex Karp (Palantir) have LONG gotten the majority of their revenue from the US government including defense contracts. These dudes are a known quantity. They may be giving voice to a faction of the elites that are dirt dirt. The military industrial complex is what birthed and funded Silicon Valley.

One of my big brothers friends worked for space X in la like 8-9 years ago.

Not gonna talk about what he did there specifically but it was dragon era. He brought me and my brother in super casually to walk every square foot of the facility.
