I mean, this year's Wrestlemania is just an asset flip of last year's Wrestlemania, and Roman's deal last year was his spear vs a 50 year old"s spear, so.........
Goldberg is done too, don't get me wrong, but he's a way bigger name than Edge and he's always been a powerhouse wrestler. Edge's spear been weak for 16 years now

Good story I guess, but the only thing I'm cool with is that he started the match early. I think Rumble/Gauntlet match winners need to go through some shyt to actually win. Unless the idea is for a chickenshyt heel (i.e. Miz/Rollins) to win, the eventual winner of this match should come in no later than like... 15.
If he chooses Reigns, the story will be "entitled champion linked by blood to wrestling royalty and handed the keys to the kingdom" against "lifelong fan who had his dream snatched from him and has had to fight for 10 years just to have a CHANCE to get back what he never lost"
What might be ignored is that Edge, prior to retirement, was an ultimate scumbag that always took the easy way out while Roman literally had to fight and beat cancer for people to acknowledge his impact on the WWE.

This. Edge is basically just "there" as opposed to it actually elevating someone to the Main Event, which given everything with COVID and variants now popping up, they need as many believable Main Eventers as possible.
This Rumble should have been the one to elevate Big E. Not only historic, but program writes itself to face Reigns at Mania and take the title from him there (maybe even have him drop the IC title to Jey Uso between now and Mania) and have them feud through the summer.
I think they'll put Edge vs. Drew McIntyre. McIntyre has been the one talking about the old folks calling the locker room soft. He also doesn't have an opponent unless they finally elevate Bobby Lashley or bring Brock back. But I think we'll see Lashley vs. Riddle at Mania instead.
Roman at least has more options to work with on Smackdown than Drew on RAW.

Good point. People who are against the IC champion winning seem to forget that in its heyday, the IC champion was the de facto No. 1 contender to the world champion.

At this point you have to know that wwe isn’t all about building for the future. They have shown time and time again that they are building WM for right now. And They have two belts so Drew is the build for the future guy and everyone else is to build for now.Horrible.
With a roster filled with allegedly the most talented wrestlers of all-time, they go to a 49-year old under drawing champion from 15 years ago to showcase at Wrestlemania. Really building for the future, huh
With that said I don’t care about edge winning cause it’s not going to hurt the company. He can afford to put him in a nostalgia match on night one and save the big main event for night two
