How have job interviews been for y'all with dreads?
I started growing my dreads right when I got hired and they are in that wild stage right now.
I like how it looks and get compliments but I want to get a new job and I ain't tryna cut them out.
shampoo ya shyt before the interview so they look fresh and not pointing up in all kinds of wild directions

i usually got compliments on how neat mine were

Thread only worth a dollar without pics.

Freeform Locs. The true locs IMO

Ideally I would get free form as well. But I'm living in this corporate BS so locs alone are a testament to my feelings.

Why'd you have to cut em if you don't mind me asking. Yeah I hated that in between stage and how often I had to have somebody work on them. A few hours every week or they'd look bad. Yeah I think I might be. Locks end up taking a lot of time and money and care. End up being like a pet of sorts. That sounds weird but you do end up caring about them a deal.
I literally get my dreads tailored at salon every 3-4 months. 70 dollars. That seems like less than haircuts to me.

I've had mine for about 4.5 years

I decided to grow mine because I got tired of the of the "clean cut/clean shaven safe negro" stereotype. The way I see it I am actively banging on the notion that a black man with long dreads and a big beard can't manage a company, conduct a business meeting, etc, like a clean cut/clean shaven black man.
:blessed::salute:

Almost to my waist. I can pull em that far. Think that's as long as imma let 'em grow.
Then what? There's a tool to cut them so the don't have flat ends right?

But if you go the interlocking route you loose a lil bit of length each time you get it done.
:ohhh: never heard this, but definitely makes sense

  • :ehh: It looks cool tho, but it's not looking real free form, maybe because you twisted it before. I plan twist mine too its been 1.5 years, can i still do it? :lupe:

    sorry my cam sux :sadcam:
Yeah the front is more free form. The front of head literally has like 3 or
    Four giant dreads that will
Hopefully evolve in their own way.

The coolest explanation I learnt about dreads and rastafarianism is this:

The locks:
Nazarite vow, similar to fasting..it's giving up sacrifices for a purpose, look it up in the bible

Vegetarian side of Rasta:

In certain parts of Africa each tribe is aligned to a certain animal as their protectors to keep the food chain and nature in harmony and balance. For example a certain tribe is aligned to Cows as their sacred totem.."worship" them and keep them in existence.

So the nikkas that got taken into captivity got stripped of the knowledge of which animals they are the protectors of so refrain from eating any flesh at all, to protect all animals

Holy Immanuel, Jah Rastafari
