The smart thing would’ve been to keep his head down, lay low, and wait til next summer to come back like a monster…

… but he can’t, because ego wouldn’t let him not try to have the last word and most importantly, his dumbass signed a 360 deal on steroids. He’s stuck touring and putting out tracks til them people get their money back.

All the while the whole world is Crip Walking to his lyrical demise

As much as he’s hoping to put smut on both UMG and Kendrick, there’s the equal chance all the number juicing for his tracks and the other skeletons he got tucked away get dragged out into the open. But if he wants out as bad as it looks like he does, he may not even care at this point.

Out of what?

I’m surprised a big law firm like Wilkie would take this case. But money talks. In essence, the pre-action filing is a request for pre-litigation discovery i.e. a disclosure of information so that they can properly file a suit. Currently they don’t have any names or actual parties that took money. It’s all we believe such and such happened and that may not be enough to get past a motion to dismiss. The goal is to spook UMG into settling if there’s actually something there and because UMG has clearly told them to fukk off with their complaints prior to the suit. They are trying to get the courts to force UMG to hand over information because otherwise all they have is speculation and they know it would get dismissed outright.

I understand the shock that MTG had and the controversy of Drake potentially hiding another kid. However, these threads aren't reflective of reality. The amount of hate Drake catches here versus how he streams in real life should tell you that.

We're enthusiasts. We are a niche when it comes to the entire population of people who consume music. Regular people aren't waiting around at 10PM ET on a Friday night for a diss song to drop, and then staying online for 45 minutes after that to be notified of a new Kendrick diss. And regular people aren't continuously spinning a Kendrick x Alchemist record at a rate where its rapidly outpacing a new Drake video in every metric from comments, likes to views. And not only that, but we saw FM get dislike bombed in real time. We're supposed to believe that was 100% human? C'mon fam.

And I'm not here to act like Drake doesn't play these same games. Every artist signed to a major is doing this shyt to some degree. Drake just got beat at his own game here.

You are trying to rewrite history. The entire world heard those songs in real time within hours of them dropping.

Champagne Karen lost.

I agree with parts of this but we need to make the distinction that people are streaming Drake's old sh*t, not his new sh*t.

He hasn't had a top 25 hit since May. He hasn't had any songs on the Hot 100, since like 2 months ago.

As far as "this is just a small, niche group on the internet"....respectfully, you seem out of touch.

People like Kai Cenat and other streamers made this beef mainstream for Gen Z. Social media made it mainstream, in general.

A lot of people were doing the sh*t (staying up late, engaging social media, etc.) you assume only hard core fans were interested in.

Drake is suing the company saying they inflated numbers to make Kendricks songs seem bigger than what they were.
I'm seeing quotes where the company is denying it.
And I see somewhere that the company wanted drake to sue Kendrick or they were going to sue Kendrick themselves.
I also see where some people are saying that the company fired employees who brought attention to what they were doing.

All this, and more, is from Drakes preemptive action letter. Meaning it's all allegations from Drake towards UMG, and nothing has been substantiated yet. I know Akademiks is biased but he read through the whole document on stream last night.

Why is Drake acting like Not Like Us came out of thin air? That man beat him at his own game and made a hit song out of a diss record. So did IMG secretly tell Kendrick to make a structured diss song and they'll handle the rest?

“Back To Back,” I like that record. I'ma get back to that, for the record.

Kendrick even warned him.

i can vouch for this with alexa...alexa sometimes be playing shyt i didn't want because her dumbass misunderstood
Right, it's how LLMs work. Super glorified auto complete. It must've gotten way more requests to play that "Certified-blah song" Which in turn is "Not Like Us" then it ever got to play "Certified Lover Boy,"

It was a genius move because Kendrick didn't allow the public to consume and digest Family Matters before giving us something hot off the stove.
shyt was brilliant.

I had just finished listening to Family Matter's thinking it was fire.

Then I'm like "wait Kendrick dropped? Again?" :damn:
