shyt was brilliant.

I had just finished listening to Family Matter's thinking it was fire.

Then I'm like "wait Kendrick dropped? Again?" :damn:

This is exactly how it played out.

:wow:

I didn't even go back to Family Matter's for days because of this. Kendrick stepped on his response and the titles were even similar in spirit

Devastating :wow:

About the numbers it never made sense that Family Matters numbers were so low after it was Drake’s official response to Euphoria. There was clear suppression especially for the bigger artist. I always said if Drake is UMG’s biggest artist and they usually juice the system in his benefit why did they turn off his juice when he was getting his *ss kicked.

Drake dropped his song and video at 11pm on a Friday night, Kendrick released his song about an hour later.

There was no suppression; Kendrick was playing chess while Drake and his ghostwriters were playing Hungry Hungry Hippos.

I think it’s a wrap for Drake after this. Should have just waited this out and popped back up a few months after the Super Bowl. This was a bad look and I don’t know if he’ll recover from this.:francis:
Yeah but he’s like Kanye. People will always want to see what’s going on. Basically it’s not like Ja rule.

fukking Tom Hanks son posted messages of his dad asking him about the beef.

This was the most mainstream hip-hop beef ever.

Uma Thurman also weighed in.

I dunno what these cats are talking about. This ain't URL. This was the biggest battle in rap history, and arguably the biggest moment in music any genre, this whole year.

Some of you Drake Stans would be the type to call your job and say you can’t come in because you broke your leg and then not understand why you got fired the next day when you showed up and your leg was fine.
We can remember some of the stories and narratives you have pushed. You can’t just change it all up when Drakes story changes and expect to be taken seriously.

I understand the shock that MTG had and the controversy of Drake potentially hiding another kid. However, these threads aren't reflective of reality. The amount of hate Drake catches here versus how he streams in real life should tell you that.

We're enthusiasts. We are a niche when it comes to the entire population of people who consume music. Regular people aren't waiting around at 10PM ET on a Friday night for a diss song to drop, and then staying online for 45 minutes after that to be notified of a new Kendrick diss. And regular people aren't continuously spinning a Kendrick x Alchemist record at a rate where its rapidly outpacing a new Drake video in every metric from comments, likes to views. And not only that, but we saw FM get dislike bombed in real time. We're supposed to believe that was 100% human? C'mon fam.

And I'm not here to act like Drake doesn't play these same games. Every artist signed to a major is doing this shyt to some degree. Drake just got beat at his own game here.
You think "regular people" is trying to rock out to a 7 and a half minute Drake song rapping about another man? Family Matters is not a catchy song. Its not One Dance, it's not Hotline Bling, it's not Gods Plan. Family Matters was never going to appeal to that casual radio friendly Drake audience.

It's some wanna be tough guy shyt with three different beats and no hook on the second and third beats. The whole middle section could have been left off if he was trying to make a catchy song.

MTG wasn't commercial either but it had a draw. It was dark and shocking and the most artistic song in the whole battle. People said it reminded them if Eminem's "Stan". Streamers was running it back to back in real time. This ain't speculation.

You are making the same mistake Drake made, you are thinking because he is the bigger star that he should automatically win the battle. But here's the thing, if history has told us one thing, it's that rap battles don't always favor the bigger star. Jay and Nas, Drake and Pusha, Cube and Common. Rap battles don't just favor the more well known commercially friendly rapper.

Kendrick is supposed to be anti industry but he’s one of the most blatant examples of an industry darling in history.

Remember when GKMC released and hundreds of rappers and singers promoted the album on twitter? You guys really think all of that was done out of love? :pachaha:
