most people that dont like it are just because of nostalgia. The only thing it totally messed up on lore wise was the open racism the elves get in the world. seems that was completely missed which is kind of important to why Solas is like "uncommitted" in the voting booth lol.

The banter between party members is phenomenal and the characters are extremely charismatic. The people who "hate it" played 8 hours in one session. Think about that for a moment.

Do you play games for 8 hours straight if you hate it?
People put 40+ hours into Starfield, but supposedly they didn't like that game. So yes, apparently you can put that kinda time into a game and not like it, as little sense as it may make.

starfield is open world with waste time mechanics. 8 hours in veilguard will get you thru chapter 1 and like 16 quests. It's like saying 8 hours in skyrim is the same as 8 hours in wukong.

The waste time mechanics in Starfield do not really kick in until much later than 40 hours... I have alot of time in Starfield bro.

This Revenant Dragon fight is ridiculous, I've been fighting this thing in the dark, alone for like 4 straight minute and there's no sign of the light going back up so my squad can help me out. I'm level 28 fighting it (its level 50), I really wanted to see what rewards this damn quest gives you but it seems I'ma have to wait till I'm more powerful :francis:

The people who "hate" it are the ones who heard about the transgender non binary crap. Missing out on a good game due to a few seconds of DEI/WOKE insertion.

no. lol.

and i'll even raise you on that exact topic too.

a perfect example of the one note and tone deaf writing is that the devs can't even recognize the irony in a trans character having their identity supportively corrected at each opportunity - but having that same character's group conflict come to a head when they refuse to call the necromancer everything but his name.

the option to call out the hypocrisy isn't even there because why would it be?

the game trips over itself in dialogue and narrative constantly. and for a lot of a people watered down wayfinder gameplay isn't enough to pick up the slack outside of that either.

There are people rightfully criticizing the writing but it’s all getting drowned out by the people who hate it for being “Woke”:yeshrug:

I meant to say few sections, not seconds. Yeah the writing is atrocious at times, but 90% of it(so far, still haven't gotten to Taash) is fairly common level for most games.

The combat to me is great. Targeting mobs is fluid. I just spent nearly 5 mins blasting away at "Immune" mobs until I found out why they weren't weakening. I love that time Plenty assortment of skills and companion tag team abilities.

The random puzzles are a bit juvenile but they break up the pacing.

And as for the wayline gameplay, so does BMW, God of war, FF, and a host of other games that came out this year. Plus when you open up the crossroads, your options expand.

I give it an 8.5 so far
