So he needs 5 million by June 23rd?

What happens to the money if he doesn't get enough???
:pachaha: What do you think nikka? He pocketin' that money! :laff:

And none of y'all have a way to check up on the whereabouts of how much was raised or nothin' like that. :lupe: :laff:

Y'all know damn well he ain't raisin' 5 milli, and even if he did, y'all have no way of verifying it. From pimps, to pastors, to waist bands, Wake Up Now, and now this stuff, "culture pimping".

Black people will give any kind of money to a seemingly "quick fix" solution instead of actually just acting right (ie. being good parents, valuing education, learning skills to get a job or start a company, being nice to each other).

school are closing in black neighborhoods nationwide cause there are under performing by wide margins and the kids are sent to schools that are doing better. but why are those schools doing so bad? going back to my statement it's cause of the households they're from. all these politicians, charter school corporations, and community leaders just love blaming the school system (after all it's in their best interest) but none ever mentions the role of parents up to the point where most of them think that their only job is to make sure their kids get to school and nothing else. if the good Dr is successful in his endeavors depending on where the students are from he'll get the same results as the public school system.

The schools are doing so bad, because the teachers/administrators are either prepping those kids for special education or prison a majority of the time, not too mention the curriculum is boring/irrelevant to them.
Yes a good number of these parents need to step it up, but if the school system to designed to prep black kids for prison/special education, how can you simply blame this on the parents?

Breh Ima keep 100 with you I'm drunk right now. There's plenty of books on pan Africanism on amazon. Go read some of em.

If you disagree with the approach :manny:

If you one of them nikkas that wanna focus on how difficult it is :manny:

Either way, I fukks with Umar :manny:
Exactly...let Umar try his methods and if you (@Poitier) disagree, then you can try your methods as well. There's no rule that only one person can work toward building the community at a time.

5 million? :dwillhuh:

Black people spend billions on bullshyt yearly, the least we can do is start to employ our own and look out for our kids. :manny:

If 30k of us put up $200 each(that's less than a Gucci belt or a couple of bottle service nights at the club), then he'd have more than enough to make this school happen.

Personally, his actions over the last 3-4 years has shown he's serious about his desire to help fix the education of black boys. He's not the first person to go on a campaign to try to raise money. If you believe he's a pimp, charlatan, or a scam artist, then don't donate. Like I told @Napoleon, if you don't agree with his means and approach, donate to the Harlem Children's Zone. Geoffrey Canada is nationally recognized, has been endorsed by President Obama, and has been featured in numerous articles and documentaries on his ability to close the achievement gap between black students and white students. His school is black owned, run, and operated and has a history of success.

Here's a link to their donation page:

Y'all know damn well he ain't raisin' 5 milli, and even if he did, y'all have no way of verifying it. From pimps, to pastors, to waist bands, Wake Up Now, and now this stuff, "culture pimping".

How is he culture pimping? How many black people today do you know that will publicly say the American social system is detrimental to the lifes of black people, and black people need to take control of their own education, economic, and political systems without the help or interference of white people? Umar is so damn fringe that he's been barred from speaking engagements before.

We always bring up how the Jewish community is winning, and one of the reasons is they support their own endeavors. I googled Jewish fundraising and this was the first article the came up:

Final 2013 Federation Fundraising Totals Hit $19.68 million - JewishinStLouis

Jewish people support causes they believe. Black people unfortunately haven't realized the importance of supporting endeavors that solely benefit our group. Instead there's always the underlying distrust of black people by black people.

Black people will give any kind of money to a seemingly "quick fix" solution instead of actually just acting right (ie. being good parents, valuing education, learning skills to get a job or start a company, being nice to each other).

:laff:

How is attempting to start an academy for black boys a quick fix? It would be one thing if he was just doing lectures for the rest of his life and that's it, but he's putting shyt into action and is not just spewing rhetoric.

When black people complain about the racism that's inherent in the educational system, people like you want to ignore the cultural and historical biases against black people and say "black people need to do better." When a black man like Umar gets up and says we need our own schools so we can teach our own children what they need to be successful, you call them a swindler without any proof pointing to him being disingenuous.

Mr. Umar Johnson was engaging in Cleo the psychic scams as recent as last year :smh:

Lol...I've seen his youtube videos and he's full of shyt. I tend to think poorly of people who are full of shyt and sell lies and half-truths to the people, posing as wise men scholars, or spiritual leaders.

His lectures are some truth cloaked in a bunch conspiratorial, fact-devoid fear-based pseudointellectual hyperbole aimed at scavenging off peoples' inadequacies for money; no different than T. D. Jakes or Creflo Dollar.

If you don't see the obvious charlatanry and self-serving agenda of this guy all over youtube and movies attention-whoring, posing for pictures and trying to cake off of lectures, motivational speeches, donations, books, and 30 minute phone consultations for parents struggling with their kids, and calling himself "The Prince of Pan-Africanism" :why: then I truly pity you.

Listen to some of his lectures on his vision for his school and the problems facing black the black community today. His desire is for his school to be a residential school so he don't have to worry about fukked up parents not doing their part. He said he'll take that responsibility. In his lectures he blames white people for having this racist system, he blames black parents for not doing what they need to do to help their children succeed, and he blames black leaders for not taking action to rectify the problems facing the educational system.

Dude has probably over a hundred lectures on Youtube and blog talk radio talking about the educational system and what he wants from his school. It seems like most y'all nikkas are criticizing his efforts without even knowing shyt about him.

When other races want action, they create "Super PACs" and buy out the politicians. When Blacks want action, we throw *millions* into the hands of a saviour-figure of questionable credentials and behavior :smh:
Put us on to "Super Pacs"

  • What are they
  • How are they created
  • What can coli members do to create one.
