This is not the case for Puerto Ricans or on the Northeast. Whites/Latinos vs Blacks in Prison seems to happen more in the Western states. Just saying. In those latinos for the most part are Central Americans.

All im gonna say is when you'r eblack or especially Haitian in DR you tend to be self conscious about it. Last time (and only time) I went to DR i was about 12. My dad had a business partner (dominican dude name Hermantin.. may have mipelled that) that we went to visit. I dont know if it's because of the Haiti plates on my dad's truck but we were getting a lot of stares. I didnt make the connection then but over time i became more aware. I always hear Haitian students in DR who tell me they are discriminated against. My cousin went to do his internship in DR after medical school and he told me the same. Little things like shaking your hands and feeling your knuckles to see if you are some haitian migrant farm worker or something.

At the same time whn im in Delmas (Haiti) I drive by the dominican shops over there nd they all cool peeps.

and i sympathize breh i really hate any kind of discrimination or blind hate. shyt i stopped seeing a barber because he was a hateful homophobe who even after i told him i got a gay cousin, proceeded to tell me they should all be killed. its disgusting and i wish humans werent like that, including dominicans. my only point is that we are NOT all like that so its a little fukked up to have people attack all of us for the actions of the supremely stupid.

What public services are haitians getting for free? Have you seen how they live? What is a guy shining shoes, cutting sugsar cane or doing construction taking away from dominicans? The DR needs haitian labour for it's economy to function, that's why the rich landowners ship them in illegally. The problem in the DR are not migrants, they're just a scapegoat for the political elite, so they can continue to rob the country and won't have to change things.

when i say public services im not talking about welfare. im talking about things like education and health. these services are barely enough for dominicans and in some places virtually non-existent.

I did not know the language...when I lived in St. Croix, they hate Dominicans...I couldn't speak english...when I was in school I tried my hardest not to "act" Dominican or hang around them because they would jump you just for the hell of it. the only thing that safe me was my cousin (he was a known bad ass) and my maternal grandfather last name which is known in those islands (I carry both my dad and mother last name).

when I came to the US same bullshyt in Orlando...my friends were Black...my break dancing crew was Black and Latino and one vietnamese dude...

I didn't want to hangout with Dominicans or majority Latinos going to school so that I wouldn't get bullied...it forced me to learn the language faster than a muhfukka too...plus...Latinos didn't know I was Dominican until I start speaking in Spanish...I have a story about that but thats not why we here.

but If I was to doing it all over again, I would stand up for myself instead of trying to hide my identity...as a teenager I guess you just trying to fit in.

I don't run in that circle nor do I know anyone in DC from those ethnicity...my circle is Black Americans and Latinos sprinkled with "others" every now and then.

one time a cab driver Ethiopian ...asked me where I'm from and I asked him why he asked (I knew where he was trying to get at cause I get ask this question a lot...mind you there is nothing ambiguous about me) he said cause I don't look like I'm Black American...I told him where I'm from and he started to make jokes and how he had Dominican friends and they all cool and he loves the food.

You're correct about western States and that's because whites are the majority.

All of those south of the border and island Latino rats are opportunistic. They're black and side with blacks when convient and side with cacs and have "European ancestry" when convient

I've had countless Dominican friends admit that their native people are racist. My line brother's fiancee told me that her family HATES Haitians and have only just began to tolerate my line brother as her fiancee (and future son in law).

Latin American functions too much like this. In Bolivia, Evo Morales is from the Aymara Nation and usually puts Aymara interest and culture above other tribes/ethnic groups. When they wanted to build a freeway thru the rain forest, the original plans were to build it thru tribal lands of non-Aymara Native Americans. The end result ended up being bloody protests in the capital with the TIPNIS natives and supporters vs. Evo's party and his secret security force. I'm crillio/mestizo so historically my ancestors and middle-class have discriminated against them. To me it makes no sense for the different native groups of Bolivia to be so divisive. This just the politics and identity of Latin America for you, as an American raised person, I don't get it sometimes.

Haiti and DR beef is one that is mixed with race, identity, and national pride. It is complicated and isn't strictly about race. You gotta look at it not as an American, it is complicated.
