I am a catholic , i believe God is real and religion is in general a good thing for society. I dont condemn any atheist or non believers everyone has their own choices but personally i believe in religion and God, i don't subscribe to the evolution theory.

Nihilism is supposed to be a temporary process that leads you to finding your own fulfillment in life. Atheism is definitely an easier road to get to nihilism. Most people seemingly get stuck in the Nihilistic process and spiral downward into either hopelessness, hedonism, or sociopathy.

It's not a recommended path by any means, but if you can come out of it finding your own definitions and meaning for life, you can become powerful because you know everything is related to you and your own efforts alone.

I wrestle with nihilism myself, because I'm agnostic, but I designed an ideal life for myself and printed out a collage that I look at everyday to drive me towards that. I'm getting there, but some days are tougher than others.

I think that saying "life is what you make of it" will have limited use. There are many people whose lives are so bad that there isn't anything they could make of it. There are plenty of people where it's hard to see how their lives could ever improve, and where it is going absurdly bad for them, but there's nothing to be done about it. On atheism, they're just fukked.

Atheism is one thing: A lack of belief in gods. It is not an affirmative belief that there is no god nor does it answer any other question about a person.

Atheism does not inherently make a claim. It is a neutral state. This is like claiming OFF is a TV channel.

The positive claim atheists would be practicing gnostic atheism, or an atheist that claims to know there isn't a god.

An agnostic atheist states they don't believe in a god, but also, the question of whether there is a god is unknowable.


You can be an agnostic atheist, a gnostic atheist, an agnostic theist or a gnostic theist.


Also, to state that atheism means life doesn't have an objective purpose is hilarious. First of all, there isn't an objective purpose in Christianity or Islam or whatever religion you believe in. Once I question you people about what your god wants, it ALWAYS boils down to you admitting you don't know what "god's plan" is, meaning you don't even know what the purpose actually is, nor can you prove your god DOES have a plan in the first place.

Every creature on this planet has two goals-- eat enough food so they can survive long enough to procreate.

That is as objective as it gets, no god required.

If God doesn't exist, by definition life cannot have an objective purpose. Morality would have no grounding, and if modern science is right, at some point in the finite future all human accomplishment will be destroyed. Hard to find any meaning, purpose, value, anything in an atheistic world.

If we take atheism to also include physicalism and naturalism, there also basically wouldn't be free will, meaning that we are here in no way by our choice, and that the end results of our lives are predetermined by biology.
