Bradley Walsh is rumoured to be the next companion. Reported by the Mirror. Not a great paper but they have a good track record of spoilers.

Bradley Walsh revealed as new Doctor Who companion

I wouldn't think most people on here would know who he is but I reckon he'd be a cracking choice and hope it's true.
I hope that's fake news because dude has a face that is made for punching.

I really do think they need to hedge their bets by having a new Companion and a returning Companion just to try and offset the inevitable ratings drop that is going to come from The Doctor being a chick now.
I mean ratings fell with Capaldi just because he wasn't "cute" enough for the Tumblr fangirls to ship him with Clara.
I would bring back Captain Jack for a season as well as introduce a new woman Companion.

Ok. Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. I disagree. Bradley Walsh is more known for The Chase. Doctor Who has never been about the small Tumblr fanbase so it's unimportant. Can't even be arsed.

I like the look. Seems inspired by the mid-late '80s Who. Still not sold on Time Lords switching genders though. Go ahead and call me sexist. If the Rani ever appeared again, I wouldn't want that character to be a male. :yeshrug:

LMAO you are ok with them changing appearance age and personality with each regeneration but changing gender is to far. Examine your values.
For real think about why it bothers you.

Because it's a new thing that started only a few years ago after 50 years of it never being mentioned? :patrice:

They are contstally changing who lore from what I observed. So you had a problem with Missy as well?
Yeah, I wasn't a fan of that. I'm still looking forward to the new season because I'm elated that Moffat is finally gone. I wish Capaldi was still there, though.

Capaldi was my favorite as well as the thrid doctor.
My point is who has always done outrages things and regeneration is by far the craziest. Maybe because I am new to who but the complete change in personality and appearance makes Dr who the best character to play because each actor can make it there own. I just find it odd that gender change is a big deal to fans because this show fan base should be use to these changes by now. Just makes them look like they have a problem with women. Or community could be right and she could just be the worst.

I'll give it a chance, it's just not a choice I would've made with the Doctor or the Master when the previous 50 years failed to mention it. Always seemed like stunt to me more than anything else. I have no clue how this new actress is going to be. I've never seen her in anything before.

Yeah I agree. It seems very publicity driven. Moffat was running the show into the ground, his ideas exhausted years before, so a big change like this was guaranteed to get the show back into the papers regularly like it was in the RTD era.

I didn't like the Master changing to Missy and like you say if The Rani was to reappear then I wouldn't want the same happening to her. If Moff wanted to use a female villain he could have brought back the Rani. Just because she hadn't been seen since 1987 doesn't mean he couldn't write a quick reintroduction of the character.

I'm still 50/50 on the Xmas special and if I'll have a cut off point in the episode, I.e. will I switch off just as Capaldi is regenerating. I've been watching since the 80's and have seen/heard all the episodes and a massive chunk of the audios/books, but for me this is just a step too far.
