Even though I had guessed that the captain would be a Lethbridge-Stewart when Mark Gatiss's role was revealed, it still floored me when he said it. A request to check in on his family, something he had done countless times already without ever knowing what was to come.
Murray Gold got a few of his greatest hits in there which was nice. The Clara cameo felt a bit shoehorned in but it was nice to see Nardole again. I knew he was at the battle but thought it would have been a bigger cameo from Matt Lucas.
David Bradley was wonderful but it did rewrite the 1st Doctors characterisation a bit. The smacking of Bill's bottom line was enjoyable though. Going to listen to his new 1st Doc audios with the AAISAT cast in the next few days.
Wasn't too excited about Jodie's casting it the idea of a female incarnation but it all felt quite natural here. And great to finally here her natural Yorkshire accent being spoken in t'Tardis by eck.
But most importantly Moffat is gone. AT LAST. Shame Capaldi never stayed for the first series under Chibnall though. Would liked to have seen what he would have done for his Doctor.
Onwards and upwards. Let's see how Whittaker, Walsh and co do with Chibnall's direction and the new filming style.
