Dude was just shytting on Robin Hood the entire time had me like :russ:

It was funny as hell watching them bicker. I liked this episode a lot. Initially I wasn't looking forward to it because I think a lot of the historical fiction/period pieces on Doctor Who can get pretty boring, but this was fun even if I still didn't completely understand why the robots were working for the Sheriff of Nottingham (maybe it was explained and I missed it). Another issue I had was buying the Doctor being so skeptical of Robin Hood's existence. He's been all over the universe and seen all kinds of crazy things, he knows so much, yet he wasn't aware and couldn't believe that Robin Hood was real?

Dude that played the sheriff would be a perfect Master. He looks just like some of the previous actors who played him.

I also thought of the Tom Baker era for this episode. I wish the show would look back to his run for more inspiration. I'd like to see it take a turn towards the Gothic horror that lot of the Fourth Doctor stories had during Baker's first half of the run.

BTW - I think I only have one more story to go and then I'm done but I watched the Fifth Doctor story "The Visitation" a few days ago. That was pretty good as well.

They were using the Sherrif because he was getting them gold from the villagers. He was actually working for them, he thought they would give him his kingdom but they just wanted to get to the Promised Land.

I think it's the nature of this Doctor to not believe in the positive fairy tales and legends, the 11th/10th would've believed in Robin Hood - especially the 11th, he would've loved him.

Episode was alright, I think I read somewhere that they intentionally want to cross off a few things early so they can end it on a dark note.

So far they had:

- Obligatory confused new Doctor in episode I
- Obligatory Dalek episode to keep the license to using Daleks in episode II
- Obligatory lighthearted/'historical (even if legend)' story in episode III

Expecting Danny Pink/Clara to become a couple soon, then once we hit mid-season I think we'll be where the writers really want to take it.

Again, as long as they stick with this Doctor I'm all good - loved the 10th/11th but would hate to see the BBC cave in to the kinds of fandom that Tennant/Smith pleased (fangirls).

There are rumors that Jenna Coleman may be leaving the role of Clara by Christmas so it's possible that we will be getting a new Companion.

:sadbron: She's so gorgeous, breh. I don't want her to leave. :sadcam:

Yeah, I've read some complaints that it still feels like the same Doctor Who, despite Moffat promising a new direction. It definitely felt that way with this episode, but I think it's going to get darker. This Doctor is obviously a bit more grumpy and has his dark moments and I think the season will go that way eventually. I just hope it starts to happen soon. "Robot of Sherwood" was a fun, light-hearted episode, but now I want to show to start to get more serious about "Am I a good man?" and stop taking detours.

Just getting really into Dr. Who on BBC America. One question though, why haven't they updated the killer Robot designs? Is it just for nostalgia sakes? I got the RETRO channel on my FiOS and they show the black and white Dr. Who's and the robot designs haven't changed much at all:wtf:

You can't change the classics, imagine the Cyberman or the Daleks looking different? The most changes they done with them are making Daleks different colors and the Cybermen more silver toned.

What is this "promise land" all these villains are trying to go to this season?

I thought that cute soldier chick that wanted to come with them at the end of the second episode was going to become a new companion... hope that is still the case.

Yep. Too iconic.

They've changed the Silurians a lot over the years, but they aren't really an iconic race. I actually don't like the current design, looks like something off of a SyFy series, I guess it's more practical though.

The current design looks like a different race to me. More reptilian where the OGs remind me of sea-monkeys. :pachaha:

There was supposed to be a scene where The Sheriff gets beheaded and it's revealed that he's a robot, but BBC nixed it due to ISIS' recent fukkery.

yeah. like Clara leaves to be with danny, The Doctor goes back to get Journey Blue seconds after he left (like Eccleston did with Rose), and be like "Know what, maybe being a Soldier isn't such a bad thing after all."

It would actually give this Doctor his version of "Ace", the other dark and morally gray scottish (Seventh) Doctor's companion.

:whoa: don't let those youtube videos fool you, if you're not familiar. After the show ended and they switched to straight novels and audiobooks, The Doctor had no problem killing millions to save billions. Even early on, his companion was even quoted as having 600+ deaths on her hands.

Canonically, when Doctors cross paths, they may bicker a bit. But despite The War Doctor being the try to forget, NONE of them deal with The Seventh because they don't like who he turned out to be. I kind of believe if Seven would have went into the Time War, theyre wouldn't have been a need for a War Doctor.

:heh: now that I think about it, if Seventh hadn't have tricked Davros into blowing up not only the Dalek home planet of Skaro, but their WHOLE SOLAR SYSTEM, the Daleks never would have went on the offensive against Gallifrey and the Time War never would have happened.

Wow this latest episode was insanely good, my two main observations:

1. Something was definitely in the room with young Danny Pink, so it wasn't all imaginary...

2. My man Danny gonna get in them guts :salute:
