  • no because Starfield is just bad and doesn't have the potential Cyberpunk and NMS did

No, because the very foundation of the game is flawed.

Loading screens
Terrible movement physics
Terrible NPC
Terrible enemy AI

The game engine needs a complete overhaul.

  • Yeah the loading screens are annoying but Bethesda things
  • Movement physics goes back to a dated engine
  • NPC is what it is and modders will take care of that
  • On the real, the enemy AI actually smarter than previous Bethesda games.
Dudes will run up on you with full-blown rifles if you so happened to lose ammo.

I think people are tired of the Bethesda open-world model that Howard and Hines pioneered. It was fresh in the Fallout 3/Skyrim era but is thin now.

I think Bethesda will course correct with their next game, but maybe Starfield is just seen as generally mediocre. The next Elder Scrolls is the one that everyone will love.

Question,

Why should Modders be tasked to do Bethesda's Job?

If Mods are required for a game to be "Good" then the base game isn't good to begin with.

I'm not sure about ya'll, but Rockstar has me spoiled after Red Dead Redemption 2. The NPC was REAL as shyt.:wtf: Starfield isn't the only game I complained about that lacked good NPC either. Cyberpunk, Witcher, Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima had lacking NPC. They weren't terrible and the games were good, but still.

If you creating an open world game, your NPC gotta be on point for me.

I can't never go back.:wow:

No different from modders actually enhancing a "good" game in general. Maybe the QOL stuff was overlooked and etc. Lets face it, modders and Bethesda are like Nas and Prem in 94.

Daily reminder that I haven't played RDR2 and feel bad about such failures :(

That's the same way I feel.

I play a lot of openworld games.

I bought and played Cyberpunk on Day One.

In my opinion, Cyberpunk's world is "Basic".

It looks nice, but it lacks in the interactivity.

The NPC's are Bland, and only recently got a little bit better.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the "Gold Standard".

I'm hoping GTA6 brings everything to the next level.

In my opinion there should be a standardized "Open World Base Standards List", where if you are making an open world
you have to adhere to the basic principles.

The other games had function issues, but otherwise great content and stories.
Starfield had some glitches but over the complaints was about the content not the playability.

There is no redemption arc because there's not much to redeem. The only thing that hurts this game was the pressure of delivering for Xbox and them calling it one of their most important releases. The game is not awful and not many performance issues. It felts like Fallout 4 to me, and I guess that's the problem about this game for the people who disliked it.

I think the only thing that can rejuvenate this game and change the temperature about the game if DLC delivers and mod community put in work. Again, this game is not bad , but it wasn't GOTY material, and that's okay because you don't need a game to be GOTY material to have fun.

Mixed reviews on Steam because of xbox exclusivity and revisionist history that fallout 3, oblivion, and Skyrim didn’t blow peoples minds day 1 but only after mods came out :blessed:
