“better than lambs blood”
Movie = move me = Psychological manipulation
Y’all stay sleep, tho. Decalcify y’all’s pineal glands.
I see that, but that’s part of the fun for this genre.Because in that moment my emotions and biology are invested in the production so I jump when there is a loud noise etc.
Why u say thatOldboy (2003) is a very dangerous film.
It’s a lot of things about that rocky franchise that’s fufuStories and an appreciation of a shared narrative are huge motivators for people.
Birth of a nation was America's first blockbuster and was screened in the white house. What does that tell you about America at the time? It subsequently led to the Klan being revitalized and growing its membership significantly.
In the 80s seemingly every other week an action movie would drop about a military trained white man fighting thinly veiled representations of what the government considered communists. It's not a coincidence that Ivan drago was an opp so dangerous he literally killed the black man that rocky built his career off, also a subliminal message to black people "put your hopes in the AMERICAN white man. You can't represent America on your own. The real America is a cac" they're willing to subvert the internal logic of the film to prove a point(creed was a battle tested champion with far more years of experience than rocky)
but you always insinuate that you feel you are in a gameIt really is because the entire image of the US as the promised land was handled mainly by Hollywood in the 80s which made a goat herder in Kabul enamored with the image of ripe pawgs for all and as much freedom as your extended magazine can hold as you sip a 40oz of Coke with fireworks going off as the credits rolled. Same skills had every turban = terrorist in peoples heads and before that every bad guy was a Communist.
On the flip have you noticed that over the past decade you see more and more Chinese on the screen as heroes, never villains. Thats because of the limited market they wish to crack and requirements needed to get on to screens back East.
That is an immense power. The power to shape and control perceptions via subtle influence and lights flickering but none dare call it hypnosis...
When I was an undergrad, I watched a movie a night for like 4 years straight. Everything, every type of movie, all different countries. I toyed with being a film major, but realized it's very hard to be successful in that field, and I thought psychology was a better choice.
Movies are powerful and music is powerful. Ideologically, I don't like the idea that some media can force individuals to believe or do certain things. I just don't like that idea. However, there is evidence that it does affect people. It's clear there are agendas being placed in movies and tv. I think anybody can see that. But, does it really lead to meaningful change in people? I don't want to believe that, but maybe...
They are straight up empathy generating machines that give you the feels for 90 minutes a time by suspending reality in order to have you buy in to someone elses fabricated existence and events. Best of all it takes no effort on your part.
That is an insane power if you think about it but, like most everyday miracles, not many do consider it as its ubiquitous. Imagine if we plucked a caveman from the timestream, tied him to a chair with a big screen and surround sound booming and he watched this:
Before we sent him back to his peoples. See how unimportant words are in the grand scheme of things when its all about the motion picture ish, aha haha haa!
Miyazaki calls out all that shyt too. Basically called his own people c00ns for liking LOTR, Indiana Jones and High FantasyStories and an appreciation of a shared narrative are huge motivators for people.

The ending speaks volumes. Why u say that
