Underrated post right here.

I think that some women (and men) think that their career really defines who they are. I live in Brussels so I meet at lot of people from the EU institutions and most of them seem to really define themselves and others by their work

this is the crux of what the OP is talking about but folks misinterpreted his message

in all honesty, I went my collegiate careers trying to save girls from this path (not by wifing em but by putting them up on game)

like yo its ok to just be you....you ain't gotta be top flight female of the world for me....just have an engaging personality

:beli: What does preferring BBQs and dominoes over wine tastings, new restaurants, skiing, skydiving, etc. have to do with not being career oriented?

Most times you all make no sense. :snoop:

Maybe he used bad examples, but his point is that he wants to have a woman who is down to earth and seems like the chill type. He finds people who want to do those things primarily to be extremely bourgie or boring. It's like he's always on his corporate or upper middle class shtick. What he fails to realize though is that some people just grew up like that and that's who they are. I can relate to him to an extent. I'm all for getting out of your comfort zone, but I'd like to say I'm a pretty balanced person. I'm down for checking out new restaurants and I'd go wine tasting with you, but I'd also just like to chill and kick it with the "folks" sometimes. It seems that educated black women are often to an extreme. Or at least the ones that I went to school with. They were no different than any suburban yuppie I had come across. But the perfect women doesn't really exist.

I get what these guys are talking about. The type of girl who grew up humble and has those attributes to her, but is also successful. Someone who is multidimensional as opposed to being a black version of a chick with the same type of personality of a chick like Taylor Swift or something. Those are few and far in between though my dude lol. You're in that awkward spot of not being hood, but not being bourgie enough lol.

Am I the only one who kinda likes boring/homebody women?

The boring T/S is talking about and the boring your talking about are two different things.

Ol boy should of just kept the boring out and replace it with corny. Cuz honestly thats what them chicks are. Corny.

Edit: Haha like I care about what Bob or Lisa did at the fukking office :pachaha:

It seems you all are speaking on what you see as more of a cultural deficiency (in your eyes), rather than the focus on the actual career/education/etc. No one likes someone who is work work work 24/7 of course, but the other things being mentioned are simply frivolous and unrelated

BBQs are not only a thing of African-American culture, neither are house parties. And what does any of that have to do with work? People are different.

You're being willfully ignorant.

Look, did you see me mention work 24/7? No. Not at all. I don't even know what you're talking about. How is what these people are talking about unrelated? They are comments about things that turn people off. Unlike most of you, I don't stay in this forum all the time so I don't have thread fatigue. I'm simply looking at what they're saying. So how is that unrelated to educated career women when these people seem to have a lot of these traits?

The guy used two examples and you're harping on that and pretending like that's the overarching theme of what he said. Obviously, he struck a nerve with you. I don't play dominoes or go to that many BBQs anymore and I know exactly what they're talking about. How is it a frivolous complaint? You guys are so used to people on here whining that you're ignoring the crux of what he's getting at. He's saying that he finds these people corny, superficial or fake. I straight up said that for some people that is actually their personality and he'll have to deal with that. But he's not wrong for being annoyed by people who sound like they're using their office voice 24/7. They annoy me too, and it's not just a black person thing. I was just talking to my boy about this who is white and he has a basic middle class upbringing so he understands being annoyed by yuppies.

I'm being willfully ignorant, but you can not seem to understand the concept that just because someone is educated and has a career that does not mean anything in reference to what they will like so there's never a reason to attempt to correlate the 2. What is so hard to understand about this? Who cares what the OP or you find corny or fake? Have you all ever considered that other people may view you as boring as well? No nerve has been struck sir, may I remind you that you're the one typing paragraphs upon paragraphs? Who cares about the frivolous shiit some of you all don't like/that annoys you? Just because you feel that way, does not mean you are right or justified in any form or fashion. Let people live, sir, damn.

thats exactly the type of women i go for. a woman with career ambitions >

some of them are boring but women that aren't career driven are more or less the same

in the end, studies show that people usually date people of similar intelligence

:ehh:Sounds like the perfect woman to me you must need a hood rat.

that's more his speed i don't know why he doesn't just admit it ..aim lower...and spare us these mundane threads. he's self professed from the hood...born and bred...and now claims to be a "baller". but what he doesn't seem to understand is that he's still completely classless. ultimate proof that money doesn't buy class. class has to be BRED into you.

yall are killing me, you shyt on black women for looking a "tupac obama" yet you turn around and want a "michelle lola luv". let's just be honest, there is a small population of black people who gracefully span being at ease in the hood in addition to being very educated and able to "summer" in nantucket with the white prep school/college homies - trust, i've looked :noah:

I quit. You guys just don't get it. My best female friends are educated women with careers. They are not cornballs and they are not yuppies. They are just down people who are motivated. I could see myself dating any of them if we weren't literally like family. I could see myself getting with a lot of their friends I've met because they tend to hang around with and attract the same type of personality.

Being educated does not equal being a yuppie. Some of the most annoying people on earth are the extremely politically correct liberal types that you can't even joke with. Like I said, you guys all feel a certain kind of way about it because it probably describes you. This is coming from someone who has been accused of sounding "white" before. So I empathize with you all to an extent, but you're practicing willful ignorance right now. I don't understand why you all think saying that you don't want to chill with a yuppie = I want to chill with someone from the hood or a hoodrat. I don't know the threadstarter so if there's history there then that's between you guys, but you're all acting like you can't possibly understand what he and I are saying. This is the argument we're having. Explain to me how you all don't sound clueless:

OP: Man, I can't stand the overly educated type bourgie chicks that lack personality. Their entire life is built around their careers and they have little substance out side of that. Everything they do is related to being an upper-class yuppie and it's impossible to just chill with them on a casual tip. They're dry.

You guys: F you black men. You all want hoodboogers. I love educated women, why would I want an uneducated person?

Me: :snoop:

It's not about the degree, it's the corny personality that people with these degrees tend to have at times. The girl I'm talking to right now is working on her M.D., but she's cool as anything.
