I've never seen the first one, friend who did told me it wasn't worth the hype so...:yeshrug:
I pity people who didn't experience Avatar in 3D at the theaters. It is the most incredible visual experience I've ever witnessed in film. I think I paid to see it like 4 different times.

:what: Who asked for this? Yeah the first one did well, but that was a novelty due to 3D, but the movie as a whole was culturally irrelevant and quickly forgotten. And also it was a decade ago.

The first one is the first or second highest grossing movie of all time.

So yes, the studio decided to do sequels. It aint rocket science

Can't wait for the second. The humans are coming for payback. its about to get intense.

I heard this second one is using even more ground breaking technology. the studio and filming literally is the size of a small city, that's how many people are working on it.

now 3, 4, 5 that's a bit much but who knows how the writing is. what if the avatars come to earth, to seek war? or a new race from another planet is introduced? we don't know how this could pan out.

I said in the other thread these shyts won't ever come out. Especially if Covid doesn't go anywhere no way he gonna put these out to bomb.

Cameron said he didn't want to waste the world he created but he's wasting his career with this obsession.

There's times I feel like Fox and Cameron did a Def Jam and bought up a grip of tickets to inflate the box office.

The shyt just never made sense to me that it was the highest grossing film ever. It obviously has no culutral cache now but even at the time it didn't feel THAT big. It was a hit but it didn't takeover the entire pop culture narrative in the way other mega hits have.

I dunno...it's just a real weird phenomena to look at now .

It's a shame what Cameron has turned into as a director. He's in that group of directors like Ang Lee and Robert Zemickis who seem more concerned with techology and pushing forward special effects than actually making good films. They got too preoccupied with their toys and forgot everything else.

Movie came out in December and remained number one through winter and into the spring. Maybe it didn't seem huge at the time but people kept going to see it and it had a one of a kind theater experience.

Of course the novelty wore off and people began to realize it had no memorable characters or classic dialogue etc. The world Cameron created was the star and he can still basically reboot the movie with better characters and story. He needs a great villain and new protagonist. Make it darker maybe.

No, especially given it was the tech and cinematography that had it all over the place, the story and acting are forgettable. Don’t need 4 and especially not spanning 13-18 years after the debut
