Do “Light Skin Girls” really struggle, or is Oprah just trying to make another movie?

People should be allowed to have their preferences.

But if black women repeatedly stated that they preferred only light skinned black men or non-black men you guys would literally go ham.
Y'all gotta get off the Internet and experience life. People IRL not worried about this that much. Every now and then you hear it but for the most part this just Internet babble from both sides. Most people wouldn't go ham but online cats like responding to the vocal minority for some reason.

I'm light skin and it's clear as day black women prefer dark skin cats. Life isn't fair, deal with it.

This divisive colorism bullshyt is ridiculous. Are women really this desperate for male validation?
Regarding that last question yep. I think both sides have many cats that are desperate for the other genders validation.

Sure light skin and biracial can have privilege ... It's levels to racism... You didn't know?

Specific examples?.... You are purposely being obtuse...

Light skin is perceived as feminine
Light skin is the standard of beauty in the black community... The more exotic and further away from Black you look the more call backs for jobs you will get (studies have proven that attractiveness gets paid more)
Light skin is perceived as innocent and angelic
Light skin/foreign/exotic (read East African) is considered Blue ribbon trophy status deserving of marriage by most men in the Black community and on this very website
Light skin is praised within Black households (whether people admit to the dirty secret or not)

I could could go on but folks will call me bitter/hating/jealous for stating requested #factsonly

You can believe it... or continue to deny light skin privilege.... Your choice :yeshrug:

Breh, I'll use myself as an example. I'm a fair skinned, blue eyed, "light & loose" haired, "I could probably pass but I won't", Jesse Williams (black identifying, biracial) type mother*cker & while as (because we like to get technical on the coli) black(ISH) and/or non-whites we share a very similar experience here in America, it would be irresponsible and blatant denial if I didn't acknowledge that our experiences with oppression/racism differ. I DO have it easier & it is LARGELY due to my physical features & especially my fairer skin. Having privilege & being willfully ignorant denying it is just a sh*tty thing to do. Take what I wrote, substitute colorism for racism, apply it to the topic at hand (black women) and there you have it. Acknowledging you have it better (no matter the degree) than others will not take anything away from you, I promise.

Sure, but for me personally, it's slightly akin to a white person complaining. It can't really compare with what dark skin girls probably go through.

Even if you don't do it personally, the black community worships anything light bright and damn near white especially when it comes to the women/girls.

So I'd never complain, at least not publicly.

Plenty of black women say and do this. Idris Elba is the only dark skin man that gete hyped up like that.

.....and Denzel Washington.....and Morris Chestnut....and Lance Gross....and Blair Underwood....and Derek Luke....and Larenz Tate....and Tyrese....and Taye Diggs.....and the MAJORITY of black male singers/rappers

You will rarely, if ever, hear black women stating a preference for light skinned black, biracial or non-black men....EVER.
