I swear to fukin god i better not be able to go back through my "racism" thread a while back and find any of you guys defending the n word (as it's not used in a vacuum and enforces subconscious stereotypes).

I personally don't see a problem with the film, anymore than I see a problem with most films. I do see how some people MIGHT take this as some of you have taken it, i doubt most people (white, black or brown) will read to much into this beyond "shyt is exploding".

In an effort to stay consistent I'll visit the local p-bay when this comes out.

Its all about the context used. I dont have a problem with the word ****** being used in the film because it is a film about slavery. A film without it used wouldnt be authentic. But lets not act like QT hasnt had an affinity for the word before this. lol He was gratuitous with it. lol Now he's got free reign to use it all to be damned under the guise of a slavery story. But the word in this film is not my issue - it is the underlying theme of the story itself with the white mentor/black protagonist. This just happens to be about slavery.

I've used the word as jokes with some of my homies but there was one dude who attacked me saying that since I'm not a USA slave descendant (my lineage is Haitian) I shouldn't dare use it.

Peeps need to stop having thin skin and they spend too much time trying to put embargoes on words.

IMO blacks shouldn't even use it either, even if you b*stardize the word ("er" to "ga" ) or use it in a friendly context this was a word invented to put down blacks, and now blacks want to claim the word and nobody else can use it? Even going as far to dissect which kind of blacks can use it?

This movie is just one in the many in a pattern which subtly shyts on black people. It doesnt have to be overtly racist, but certain themes and images which play out on screen are very insensitive - and it hits you on a subconscious level. Images are powerful. Just because you cant see it, doesnt mean its not there. The white savior is NOTHING new. From Different Strokes, to Monster's Ball, to Dangerous Minds, Bringing Down the House, The Help. This is how they see us fam.

So on point. They dont let "outsiders" even tell their story. They would NEVER produce something that would slander their history or lampoon their image. Do people actually think the Hudlin Brothers are allowed to direct a holocaust movie? They protect their images. However they dictate how we're going to be seen and rewrite the history and our characters, throughout history are laced with stereotypes. Dont believe me, check the Oscars.
