No that's not my problem. There were revolts such as Bacon's Rebellion which included blacks and whites. My problem is where the story is centered around a black character or characters, the main figure cant succeed without the help of a white person or their struggle is validated thru this white character. This isnt an isolated theme. Its rehashed once or twice a year. Whether its the poor, troubled black and brown youths in school, who get hope from the tough, no-nonsense white teacher, to the downtrodden, southern maids whose self worth is actualized by a young white girl, or how about the homeless, schizophrenic, violin playing, genius who is befriend by a white journalist, wanting to save him from the madness of his life. You could say, but these are true stories! Yes, but why dont we get some type of balance with this? We do actually, lol but they're also based on stereotypes "Driving Miss Daisy" & "Legend of Bagger Vance" Why dont we see truthful and honest stories about black characters helping whites? Because white people are comfortable in seeing people of color in subservient positions. Anything opposite would possibly challenge or expose their beliefs.
And no I havent seen the film. I've seen enough to know already. haha

THis isn't some social commentary movie, it's not a documentary, it's nothing more than an opportunity to see some shyt get blown up and some folks get got in a variety of manner.
If you're reading that much into a QT film then go kill yourself.
By all accounts Kill Bill was racist to oriental people then right?
Kill Bill wasnt about Japanese internment camps, or Chinese railroad workers, or the Vietnamese during our war with them, etc. Kill Bill wasn't about some white person being the key to an Asian accomplishing their goals. Kill Bill wasn't a joke about two very sensitive topics... slavery, and the completely hackneyed overdone "rags to riches with the help of a white man" plot.
If QT doesnt want people to take his movies seriously, he shouldn't make them about serious topics. There's nothing funny about this.

Perhaps now that we've complained about A FUKIN NON SERIOUS MOVIE we can discuss the use of the N word, lack of education, lack of parental involvement in education, lack of employment, drug use, poor graduation rates, ACTUAL RACISM, teen pregnancy rates...I mean that is of course assume we've wrapped up the all so important "New QT Film".

you really want to change the feeling of "being helped" then start focusing on some of those things i mentioned and not on some lack luster movie.

I have tried to play off the feeling I get from Pulp Fiction when they use the word "******" for most of my time on Earth with the movie, but lately I wince and I think I have decided to put Pulp Fiction on the same shelf with Seinfeld for now:

IB didn't sit well with me and I can tell this movie is more of the same pandering. QT seems to like to be able to wade knee deep in race issues without getting his hands dirty. It's the guy at your job who's best friend is black and who grew up in "the city" but EVERY SINGLE convo he has to point out some political or historical fact about Black people. If it involves you - assuming you're black - then it has to prove/disprove some stereotype. This guy is the definition of the word "racist". It's what crosses his mind each and every time his eyes fall on a "minority" (which is funny seeing as how the birth rates officially tipped in favor of "minorities"). He might not HATE other races but he clearly is fixated on them.

He thinks he's doing a Jew a favor by "killing" Hitler, but why is QT sitting around all day dwelling on Nazis and Slaves anyway? A perfect excuse to bring out your swastikas and your n words to me.

A lot of people in this thread are just saying..."chill, its just a movie" - and this is the problem. Nothing exists in a vacuum. This movie is just one in the many in a pattern which subtly shyts on black people. It doesnt have to be overtly racist, but certain themes and images which play out on screen are very insensitive - and it hits you on a subconscious level. Images are powerful. Just because you cant see it, doesnt mean its not there. The white savior is NOTHING new. From Different Strokes, to Monster's Ball, to Dangerous Minds, Bringing Down the House, The Help. This is how they see us fam.
