For real. Whats also sad is when a film produced by us comes out and it's not on some slapstick, hood star, buckdancin, man in a dress wearing type mess - we dont show support. Redtails was ignored. I have my gripes with it the flick, but I bought a ticket. The Great Debators - fantastic film - ignored. Ice-T's joint - The Art of Rap...I enjoyed it - ignored. Eve's Bayou - great film - ignored. But let Foxx and Martin put that Sheneneh and Wanda shyt out - cats will be lined up outside the theater. All we want to do is laugh and be entertained. Which would be okay because there is a lane for that genre, but when the dramas come or the historical period pieces come or the serious war films come - we dont support. We'd rather see Soulplane or Precious. When Spike's film Red Hook Summer drops, I know me and my chick will be one of the hanful of people in the joint.

I'm not saying support it just because it's black - it has to be quality. But even when it is a quality black product or project, we give it the

QT is walking a very thin line with this movie. The fact he's dropping a "Slave Revenge Movie" on Christmas day has to be one of the dumbest release dates in movie history. I don't know if this is going to do that great. I have my issues with QT but I do think he is a good writer/director. But I don't know about a topic this serious in this style. It's like he's trying to make a slave western. The Trailer looked way to comedic/campy for the subject matter. And people are right. Jews would never allow themselves to be protrayed a certain way. Blacks, Latinos and Asians seem to not get the same treatment on film. They get protrayed and stereotyped by a lot of White executives on what they think Black, Latino and Asian is. Whitewashing roles also is a problem. Again QT better be careful. The movie has a great cast but there were a lot of people quitting the movie while it was being made. I have a feeling this will get mixed reviews and the release date is terrible. Nothing says the holidays like a Slave movie. Spike is being quiet cause everyone knows him and Denzel already ethered QT once before.

On point. In that clip Nate Parker said he found the script it offensive. haha On one hand I'm leaning towards seeing because it looks entertaining. But that's the problem, it almost comes across popcorny and on some slapstick, Hollywood, glossed over shyt. The subject matter doesn't deserve that shyt. They would never do a movie centered around the Holocaust in that manner.
