they purposefully did not do any marketing for them

they lowkey want all the fox properties to fail

Define "did no marketing" because there was trailers, commercials, interviews, press tours etc. for "Dark Phoenix" and "Stuber" and both flopped.

And I'm :dead: at "well, 'Dark Phoenix' failed because Disney didn't want to promote it"....the movie was done filming in 2017 then had it's whole 3rd act redone in 2018 due to poor test screenings. This was before the merger ever happened. That movie was in bad shape with or without Disney.

:mjcry: You think Dragon Age is doomed?

I am leery of Bioware at the moment....they had a team for "DA4" and stopped production on it to finish "Anthem". Which obviously ended up being a terrible idea because that game flopped. So even if we do get a "DA4" it probably won't be what they originally envisioned.

You got Warner and Universal out here doing horror movies for five bucks and making millions off them, you can't tell me Disney couldn't do the same with FOX properties.

It's simple.. they don't want to. Disney defenders are children with beards :mjlol:

RIght now the only films that are working in the domestic box office are horror and tentpoles. One notable exception is action adjacent stuff (romance, comedy, sci-fi). Audiences are fickle though. Can't stop trying to be creative because one generation is a certain way.

:salute: exactly. I feel like they're being too business-centric here, if that's possible. Yes I get it. they're in business to make money, but they're also throwing in the towel and banking on trends continuing rather than trends changing, as they always do.

Yeah they could easily make smaller flicks but that's not their model. hasn't been for a while and to your point, they don't appear to want to

I don't know what Disney's plan is. MCU is in great shape so that will continue obviously. Star Wars is not looking great.... it remains to be seen. They already milked these live action joints, Lion King and Aladdin and shyt.. Pixar has only been making sequels.

So what's the plan for the next 5 years? Just more lower level live action remakes and Pixar sequels? Toy Story 5? I doubt they do anything with these Fox properties at all..

I don't know why, there's not much risk in it. Look at the movie IT came out last year. Budget was like $30M or something and it did over $700M worldwide. That's incredible.

The movie IT ended up being one of the more profitable movies of that year because it cost nothing and blew up big.

It's not their brand, homie. Everything has to be on brand. They really wanted Spielberg to cut smoking out of west side story because it doesn't fit the brand. I think they chilled on that because he's Spielberg, but that's where there head's are at. The satire Taika is doing about Hitler is a cheap little movie to make. But they've got cold feet because they don't want to ruffle feathers or offend anyone who doesn't get it.

I feel you. If it was good I’d say yea they should drop it. But if it was as bad as many stated. Probably not a good look at this point.

I never saw the 80s FF movie, I know it exist, seen clips. And I’m good with that:russ:
It couldn't hurt to put it on Hulu though.

You'd think they would restructure Fox Searchlight to be the place where they do the low to midsize budget horror and more experimental type flicks.
