Thanks for the knowledge. I've only watched the movies and played the Knights of the Old Republic video games.

Also I wasn't trying to diss the Old Republic, I love the past of Star Wars cause it's mad deep and it's cool to see the Jedi in their prime. But the Future of Star Wars is like the lost story for Star Wars fans. How does Luke and the Jedi survive? What happens after Vader, the Emperor and the Empire are defeated? Will there be a new Sith Lord? It's a deeper type of story. It reminds me of Dragon Ball how there were are only like 5 Sayian's left. In the New Jedi Order there are only like 5 or 6 Jedi left in the whole galaxy. It's a crazy story. In "Return of the Jedi" Yoda foreshadowed what Luke had to do:

I think Luke might be more like Obi-won and he will probably Die in Episode VII, that's just speculation but I don't see Luke being in every movie. Maybe a Force Ghost in VIII and IX but not an active role. They are setting it up for a new generation. They already came out and said it's an Original Story so it won't be the "Thawn" Trilogy. But Lucas does respect the EU so I'm sure there will be EU elements but an original story. The only thing from EU I see him keeping is like you said, Jacen and Jaina Solo which are Han and Leia's kids. And Ben Skywalker which is Luke's son. Maybe even Mary Jade. Based on all reports. The Time Line is looking:

Episode II (10 Years Later) (The Clone Wars Begins)
Episode III (3 years Later) (The End of the Clone Wars, End of the Old Republic, Beginning of the Empire)

Exactly. Star Wars is about escapism. Even a film like Empire, while it has it's darker moments, is all about the spectacle and fun of an epic space soap opera. Nolan is too caught up in being dark and brooding to make an out and out entertaining blockbuster.

I swear sometimes it's like Nolan is the only director these dudes have ever heard.

It's not a full disregard but he's not going to go by it word for word. Remember he only added a few elements of the EU in the Prequels (Like Vader burning on the Lava Planet). I think it will be elements of EU but again an original story. As long as the New Jedi Order is formed by Luke Skywalker and they have again Luke, Han and Leia's kids, he will be paying homage to the EU and fans will be happy.
