i think losing jason kidd and JET was a big deal for him b/c they were two vets who knew his game and how to play that pick and pop game at the top of the key.
that being said, he still makes 21M a yr so he better find that passion somewhere.
He's gonna be fine. It's not that he stopped caring, he just got the monkey off his back so naturally some of that undying passion has been tamed. He's not in his youth and prime, ready to tackle more titles, like Kobe, Duncan, and LBJ were. In fact, I can't even remember the last "superstar" that won a title JUST at the end of his prime. Usually superstars win in their prime, or they don't win at all.
Dirk is in the unique situation of winning his first title at the age where he just can't go out and drop 25-27 every night like he used to. But it's fine. He's slow this year because of his knee, but since his game doesn't rely on athleticism, I fully expect him to be back to 20 ppg for the next 2-3 years. It really isn't that hard for a guy who still, even without much lift or movement, is unguardable for most teams.
