There were icons in the 60s and 70s. Dionne just wasn’t one of them. And it’s not like Beyoncé didn’t have a lot of competition at one point. She’s just outlasted all of them

Dionne was one of the biggest female pop stars of the 1960s, and probably the first Black female pop star in music history, which was unheard of at the time. Her songs made a far bigger impact on pop culture during her era than Beyoncé's have on hers.

Beyoncé also didn't have anywhere near the same competition as Dionne, whose competition was made up of some of the greatest talents in music history. No one from Beyoncé's era can make that claim.

Dionne also had greater longevity than Beyoncé, considering she got her first hit record in 1963 at the age of 22 and was still getting Hot 100 number one hits as late as 1986 when she was 45! She's the second most charted female artist in history, only trailing Aretha Franklin. Beyoncé got her first hit record in 1998 with "No, No, No," when she sixteen, and hasn't had a major hit since 2013's "Drunk In Love" when she was 32. She hasn't had a major hit in six years(that Ed Sheeran song she jumped on for a cheap hit doesn't count).

Dionne has more classics and longevity than Beyoncé, and her songs made a bigger impact. Beyoncé benefits from her PR team shoving her down the public's throat daily on social media; she hasn't been a big deal musically in roughly a decade.

I can't, I'm not apart of the Beyhive but I'd be lying if I said this gen won't be singing her songs 20-30 years in the future.

Nobody will care dude, transhumanism/virtual reality will take over very soon. She better do something real fast. We aint gonna be walking around with VR sets and computer chips listening to wack ass beyonce solo songs.

She’s right... Beyoncé doesn’t have a classic album

Big songs that are hot at the time but outside of Single Ladies, what’s Beyoncé’s definitive timeless hit? She really has none. Certainly true for her albums.
that's not true

Her 2013 album was:
critically acclaimed
had many hits
had a direct impact on how artists release albums (surprise releases)

lemonade is seen as a classic, and her best work by many

She's objectively an icon. i need her in-depth explanation

So we can make a definitive judgement on longevity when one person is close to double the age of the other? :gucci:

TBH Diana Ross has more clout than Dionne Warwick. Dionne may have debuted first but Diana was definitely more popular. Idk if Dionne could fill up central park during a hurricane like Diana did

Let Me Just Say This

Is Beyonce an Icon? Yes

Does she have hits? yes

Is her music mediocre ? Yes

Exactly
And why has she not faded in to the background with mediocre trashy lyrics

Because of the cult of personality which has been sustained through social media.
