stopped listening when the man said "some blacks owe their middle class status to the government"

and this is the premise of his entire argument. and this is why its FLAWED at the core, even though he does touch on a few key points i can agree with. but you have to start from a place of TRUTH first.

whats the truth?

the TRUTH is if black slaves were brought over hear voluntarily to work(on a work visa of some sort back in the day). and we africans CHOSE to pick cotton, etc. and we were paid a decent wage to do so. we then would be building up our cash to purchase land of our own some day. just like mr and mrs white man.

the only reason the GOVVY gives blacks anything, is because WHITE supremacy treated us less then the other american citizens.

its not a gift to be a human being. well its not a gift from man. its a gift from GOD. you dont have the RIGHT to give said gift and take it away as you please.

white supremacy took said gift away, so they can make boat loads of cash with cheap/darn near free labor.

which is how and why a lot of white folks in america has had a head start on black folks in america.

again the Govvy has to in act affirmative action. because white's used racism to keep the black man down in the first place.

treat us fairly. and no need for excess govvy help.

you cant throw me in the hole, then say "you wanna get out? here's my hand" and act as if you did me a favor. you threw me in there to begin with.

this is all very true, but the reality is social welfare programs and affirmative action are not really working as well as they cost. At this point it just seems like something the govt does to make it look like they're doing something. Social welfare and affirmative action is only gonna take people so far, as the saying goes, I can take you to the water but I can't make you drink.

Most people I know who benefit from an affirmative action type program, including myself, would have likely been in a similar position without it, it was just a boost. :ld:

you just said "it was a boost" but then you said "...people who have benefited from AA programs would have likely been in a similar position without it"

:what:

you cant have it both ways.

the truth is, AA programs got some of us into more prestige's colleges then we would've ever been in without said program. that lead to some of us getting better/higher paying jobs due to the connections we made in said "better college." sure the same person could've easily went to a local school and knocked out college and been okay. but not as well off as they are current due to AA, pushing them into a better college which then pushed them into a better circle of connections which then gave them more options for better employment, which gave them more money in their pockets for a better living.

anyone with a brain knows good and well AA isnt even close to what blacks deserve. but something IS better then nothing friends.

something is not better than nothing if it distracts you from doing things that will produce better results than AA

back in the day you use to write essays on how its a waste of time to go to college, if you would have spent all that energy on things like emphasizing the importance of college and how it puts you in a position to better yourself, we wouldnt need AA

the reality is that a reason for AA is people like you, a lot of black people dont give a fuk about college and also encourage other black people to not give a fuk about college

so in essence by pushing for AA ie more black in college, you are trying to solve a problem caused by your anti academic feelings

instead of AA, we should push toward changing black culture to be more academic and a culture that expects black kids to go to college, changing attitudes about college is more important than AA and we do not need white people to do that

what is the point of pushing for AA ie begging white people when we have the tools and the means to solve the problem ourselves

wrong i didnt write essays on it being a COMPLETE waste of time. i wrote essays on for a lot of people it MAY become a COMPLETE waste of TIME..and MONEY. and it will straddle you with ridiculous debt going forward. thats the truth. anyone saying it isnt the truth is a liar. that simple.

remember i said MAY..

and no AA is better then nothing. and NO its not distracting anyone from what could be done better. those :merchant: in charge know what they need to do to make it better. its on them if they will do it or not. we(people of color) cant make these changes. we dont run anything. dont be foolish and thing they wont just do completely away with AA and say "well there's no more cism so why do you need assistance. " and not come up with something better. they'll leave you where you were pre AA, with no assistance at all.

THEY NO. its not a distraction. the only people it distracts are people like yourself.

I know what you wrote and the reality is that you've been exposed and are exhibit A as to why dinesh is basically right, in that this focus on racism has prevented black people from addressing internal issues and discussing cultural reasons for problems

Ofcourse not every single person on the planet has to go to college but black people are the ethnic group least likely to go to college so your essays showed you don't really understand the situation or have a real solution, and now your essays defending aa prove all your anti college essays do not apply to black people, black people are not an ethnic group that needs to worry about too many people going to college, that is why your anti college essays are just silly

dinesh might be a dikk and even a racist but he is basically right, we should abandon aa programs and race programs and focus on cultural reasons and copy the path of immigrants

Eh man, the bolded got me like :dwillhuh:

Dinesh makes a good point when he says how American blacks have this attitude of the govt (and I'd say white people in general) that basically looks at them as powerful and at themselves as powerless, which leads to that type of thinking that goes "THEY know what they doing, and if THEY wanted to make it better THEY knew what THEY could do, but THEY won't, and if THEY take away our programs, then we gonna be right back in the shytter."

Where's the personal responsibility and accountability in that thinking? Dinesh has a very good point there, even tho its clearly provocative and will get a lot of people up in arms, there's some real truth in there.

hold on. convo over. i know you didnt bring the indian guy up. me and you were having a convo. not me, you , and mr india who wants to look into black people's pathology while he needs to be looking at his own male indian pathology and let us know why are those men raping women left and right in india. again. do not research me, until you've researched yourself. nothing he says holds value until i see him research himself. i've already explained why.

so now back to OUR discussion. never said i was anti college. i'm not pro college in the idea that "just goto school" like our parents told us. thats BULL crap. stop telling people that. cause that "just go to school" will have you strapped with debt you may never get out of. dont JUST do anything, especially something that will cost you 10's of or 100 thousand dollars depending on your major/school, etc.

i'm anti bs. dont bs around with anything. go hard with whatever you choose to do.

i see you've falling into the trap of listening to the india man tell black people about themselves but yet cant explain to us or himself why those indian men are raping indian women like its the thing to do.

again, i'm giving power to the person IN power. go around thinking "i have the power". no you dont. now sure you can be willing to DIE for what you believe in. and you surely may have to die and perhaps those after you may reap the benefits. just like we did with our civil rights ancestors.

but beyond that. the manner in which Blacks in america have been placed here and still stay here. there is no other people that still live in the same place as their oppressor(thats also of another race and originally from another continent then their oppressor) . these things change the dynamics of african americans dealing with white american supremacy.
now sure we can all move.. question. where to? africa? Where can you go in africa where WHITE supremacy hasnt taken over? not many places. see we should've made that move like 200 years ago. to late.

so now what? lets all get together and segregate and do our own thing? thats possible. but is it probable? NO. why not? because unlike these other nationalities. we again helped build this country(by being forced to do so). in addition unlike other nationalities we feel we DESERVE a certain something for that hardwork and heart ache. that we have never really received. we're like citizens that dont feel like citizens, but we cant call any other place home but the US of A. cause we built this place TOO. and we DESERVE to be citizens.
again, you see that. so now we live our lives begging our oppressor or our oppressors children to give us what we deserve. cause we sure as heck cant take it. TRY, and lets see what will happen.

how many black people are in america vs how many white people are in america.

who got Obeezy in office? it wasnt :troll: , it was :ld: and never fool yourself into believing otherwise.

who's in congress? lets just do the numbers? a lot more :merchant: then there are :mjpls:

Who are the business owners of most fortune 500 companies? in america? its surely aint :troll:

oh i know. you will say but it could be. no it cant . not unless your oppressor stops oppressing you. that has to be his choice. now if his numbers were a lot less then yours. you could literally override him and TAKE IT. not the case. you see the hispanics do that right now. you see them running scared about these votes. sorry folks black folks dont have those kind of numbers, and africa is not connected to the US, like mexico.

So WE will never have those crazy numbers.

so now, does this mean we cant do any better? i didnt say that. sure we can. but how much better? not as good AS your oppressor. unless he chooses to do right and takes his foot all the way off of your neck. on top of that if he gives you what he got, Land ownership without earning it. just getting it handed to him by his ancestors. business ownership, etc.

please someone pull the numbers. i bet you any foreigner can get a lower % business loan a lot easier then an african american with the same credit history. stuff like this matters.

Ad hominem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or "to the person"), short for argumentum ad hominem, is an argument made personally against an opponent instead of against their argument. Ad hominem reasoning is normally described as an informal fallacy, more precisely an irrelevance.

and attitude of "just goto school" is what has allowed other people to move ahead of black people, thats what you dont understand and thats why you are exhibit A for what dinesh is saying

but basically you dont know what the hell you are talking about, thats the real bottom line

but basically you dont know what the hell you are talking about, thats the real bottom line

The reason other people move ahead of us is because they have structure in place at an early age. What I see in my community is kids spending their most impressionable years in middle school and high school trying to figure things out on their own with little to no guidance from a broken home. If the youth learned discipline, self-control, and responsibility, I guarantee you they would conquer the world and control their destiny.

This is why we are usually years behind other groups. Its a vicious cycle where we produce late bloomers. You have 25 - 30 year old men still having the same value system as teenagers when it comes to sex, money, and ambition. It is really sad to see, and this childish apathy causes them to lose precious time.

College can bridge the gap for us, so it would be foolish for any black person not to go to school or learn a skill, because we are already at an disadvantage. I would probably still find a decent paying job without a college degree (or start a multi-billion dollar business before I'm 21), but it would not do as much for my growth and development as a college education.

Dinesh says its not racism or genetics that leads to black failure, but its the culture and environment, nothing about his analysis is groundbreaking or provides new insight. What I would like to see on BET 24/7 is a rolling ticker on the bottom of the screen saying, we do not have the luxury to avoid anything that would make us better, more productive, and viable.
