That doesn't mean you should turn your nose up at those that aren't. You don't come from where they come from, you don't have the same challenges they have. Being an immigrant you don't understand these people struggles, just like they can't understand yours, so it's very arrogant to try and say what these people should be doing or how they should be acting. That's just like me saying since you and your family were able to make it out of Haiti, the rest of the Haitians are just lazy and unmotivated. The opportunity is there for them to leave, but they haven't so they must be lesser people than those that did leave.Of course there are all types of immigrants. The majority come here for a better chance. Just like there are all types of African Americans, and trust me my hat goes off to the ones makin it. Those the ones I associate with cause they on the same wavelength. Good Family values, and workin hard to get yours.
I never said all families come here set up. I said the experiences and challenges are different, therefore the comparisons are misleadingMy story about my family, is just showing you that not all families come here set up...like we coming here on cruise ships, and slidin right into a Bimmer, and right to our suburbian homes. People really do kill themselves tryin to get here, just for that chance...so it sucks to see people who are born here squander their chances.
People of all races and walks of life squander or don't take their opportunities seriously. The difference is poor blacks have so many things stacked against them that even if they don't squander their opportunities there is no gaurantee that they will make it.
You don't think you are, but that's exactly what you've been bred to do.Who said I was running around following the white man? I never said anything about the white man. I'm talking about earning, and keeping yours. Working hard for what you get....If you associate that with the white man, that's where you are wrong. That's being the right man. Doing the right things to get ahead...sacrificing not having now, to have and build later.
Let that self shame go man... I'm not trying to be white...I'm living how I wanna live, and not being ashamed about it. Self empowerment is a muhfukka...
Your parents didn't move here to be like black folks
Your parents didn't move here to take advantage of opportunities that black folks provided.
Your entire post read like a white conservatives analysis of black America. You've adopted the same negative attitude torwards blacks as white folks. You subscribe to the same incorrect stereotypes about black folks. And you try your damnedest to distance yourself from black folks. And you justify that by sayin "I have a lot of black friends"
If you didn't tell me you were from Haiti I would of thought you were a white man.
