Did Rae, GFK, GZA, OdB all dropping better albums than Meth hurt his legacy?

I liked Tical 2000 but that album was all over the place with all those skits. lol

In NYC in 94, 95 it was BIG, Prodigy, Meth, Nas, Buckshot too. Meth was that next dude up. The hype before Tical was thick. Meth was HUGE. But Tical wasnt that NY classic everybody hoped would stand up with Ready To Die, Illmatic or The Infamous. It kinda took his name out the hat a bit. When Rae dropped Cuban Linx, that REALLY took his shine away.

Even in 97 when Big died it was still him at the top right behind Nas for King of NY. He was still bigger than Rae, just check videos of Wu performing Forever songs that year and watch crowds absolutely blow up when Meth parts come in

I hated Tical2000, but maybe I'll give it another listen. REally though, the only track I liked on that whole album was Shaolin What. That was the only track on that Wu shyt.

the Tical album doesn't really fit sonically with those other Wu albums

shyt sounds exactly like the 36 Chambers, Gravediggaz & ODB era of Rza tracks.

Bring The Pain
Meth vs. Chef
Mr. Sandman
Method Man remix
PLO Style
Tical

all could swap out sonically for any other project he did at the time.

tical 1 and 2000 werent by any means bad albums, for me it was this way:

first round of albums: OB4CL tied with ODB 1st solo > Liquid Swords > Tical > Ironman > Bobby Digital

second round: Supreme Clientele :lawd: >>>>>>>>>>>>>> nikka Please > Tical 2000 > Beneath the Surface > Digital Bullet >>>>>>>>>>>>> Deck, U-God and Raekwon's solos, them shyts were straight garbage except maybe 1 song on each album :trash:

Tical 2000 hurt his legacy, not anything that anyone else did

yeah, pretty much method man hurt method man's legacy. he had all that hype too. tical was a dope album too. really dope. people are sleeping on that sh!t. don't know what you guys were expecting. tical 2000 on the other hand, i think if meth would cut off the skits and some of the tracks. he would have been good. some of those tracks do NOT belong on the album at all. it was all over the place.

There were some off brand sellout joints on there like that corny shyt Quaran from da youngstas gave him. Left eye was corny too.

Remember when Quaran was making wack beats? Me too.

Remember when Kwame came backswing wack beats? Me too. Meth had one of his tracks too.

I think the lack of output is what hurts ...too many years in between releases

I don't think so, but whatever

but Gravediggaz? didn't RZA only produce like 2.5 songs on that album?
