The Fly was a lot of things in my opinion. Walt had guilt, Jesse didn't, Walt had secrets, Jesse didn't, Jesse accepted Janes death, Walt didn't, Walt was worried about Gus, Jesse wasn't which explains why Jesse was able to kill the fly easily because all of that was on Walt and not Jesse. And that's just a blanket statement.

On a seperate not Walt's paternal feelings towards Jesse still creep me out

We're talking about two different things. I don't care if Walt caught an L via Hank, Jesse, the Nazis, Gus, Mike, whoever.

They compromised Jesse's character by making him snitch. They didn't have to do that in the process of handing Walt the L.
