Correct. the movie makes it seem like Louise is remembering past events when she is really remembering the future. that's why at the start of the film she says "I used to think this was the beginning of your story, memory is a strange thing it doesn't work like I thought it did, we are so bound by time, it's order...." the gift the heptapods give the humans is their language, once you learn it you can perceive the future. since the future has already happened you can't change it, you're compelled to fulfill it even if you know what's going to happen.
So you saying to really enjoy this movie you have to believe that the future is inevitable and your life is already mapped out.. Destiney type of mindset.. I got ya... I dont feel that way I think your future can change at any moment.. Thats why I didnt like this movie
