It was alllllrrrright...damn near a chick flick

I probably said this before but the new business model for science fiction is female lead plus less action and more bullshyt drama.

They think they can pull women and men that way. Once you see that pattern you start hating all the new flicks even more.

OMG WTF did I just watch.

Aliens come shoot code out their starfish hands for diff world governments to decipher. Thankfully one white american woman is chosen to learn this Galactic I-Ching from the aliens, and she is given the ability to see the future. And oh yeah her daughter dies of cancer.

This was not good. And a whole bunch of scientific babble about language, writing systems and time being non linear.

Im trying to get what is was supposed to be about really? The aliens know time is non linear, and they need humans in the "future". OKay...they teach them a language to unite or something. Its universal. The chinese dont attack

They were able to teach them the language because eventually that's how they ended up helping them 3k years down the line I believe. The reason the Chinese didn't attack was because of the scientist able to tell dude his wife's last words. I think that's right

Learning the language is what unlocks her linear view of time. It is how she is able to see all moments past future and present. The twist was pretty good IMO

Language can influence how we view passage of time. Left to right or forward and backward. a line. Their language is sickical so they view time diff.

This film is a top 10 scifi all time. I'm man enough to admit this film brings me to tears every time I watch it. How is Denis able to tow this line of beautifully sad? This movie haunts me.
Your opinion, but not even close to top 10.

I liked the flick, but it's nothing I'll watch again.

agreed

imo there's nothing beautiful or wonderful about her decision

in fact its the very definition of being selfish
The suffocating thing about it is maybe she didn't have a choice in the matter. Maybe she was destined to make that decision regardless..y'all are assuming she has true free will
