You should have thought through that example further. The most disruptive protests were in 1968 (famously and specifically during the DNC too), and they helped lead to Nixon winning the election in a landslide and basically ending the Civil Rights Movement.
I agree with not waiting, but it has to be strategic. MLK Jr. worked with leaders from JFK to LBJ to RFK. In 1968 he was very disillusioned with national leadership, but instead of disrupting the Democrats his strategy was to collaborate with the most sympathetic and liberal of the major candidates to build a campaign together. If Martin and Bobby hadn't both been murdered, then 1968 and our entire history may have turned out completely differently......but the reaction after their murders didn't serve the Black cause in a productive way.
