Nah. I don't think so. Kobe was must watch TV. Everyone watched him. The guys who turned to stats to hate on him just did it cause that's all they had to use. They just didn't like Kobe. Had nothing to do with not watching him play.

Nah a lot of these dudes were kids/teenagers when Kobe was playing. They weren’t watching him play at midnight and 1am est. those 4th qtrs were happening when nikkas were sleep. There’s a reason the term “East coast bias” exists in sports media

Watch the video. From 2000-2013, Kobe's true shooting percentage was 55.6%. In that same time LeBron's TS% was 57.5%. Jordan's TS% from 1984-1998 was 58.0%.

56% vs 58% is not that big a difference. Especially when you consider Kobe played tougher competition defensively.
its a pretty big difference

league average is around 55%

:unimpressed: All you had to do was be there.

Nobody was calling the "best player in the world" or the "best closer in the game" inefficient in real time. It's some revisionist shyt made up by a certain stan base.
nobody was calling him the best player in the world for most of his career
the only time I can remember Kobe being heralded as the undisputed best was the 2008 olympics

in 2009, the King took over

In 2009 LeBron James was calling Kobe the best in the world.

Were you even alive back then?

That's true but it's also true that for most of his career people weren't calling Kobe THE best player in the world. He was one of the best players in the world for most of his career but he never had a stranglehold on that mythical title like Mike before him, and LeBron after him...

Who are these "people" you speak of? If you simply mean the media then sure. They had an agenda against Kobe for damn near his entire career and only really stopped disrespecting him after his death. However, NBA players, coaches, and most fans had Kobe as the best player in the NBA from 2001-2010. And you know this.

In fact NBA players and coaches showed Kobe more respect during his prime as the best player in the league than LeBron ever got during his reign. Jordan is the only one of the 3 who had unanimous respect from both the media and his peers.

Now look at Kobe's #s before the achilles tear. This is what we know, Kobe didn't have the luxury of being a primary slasher or primary post option bc of spacing, esp during his peak in the 00s. Bron had the luxury bc he played with shooters and bigs that shot jumpers, essentially unclogging the lane for him.

Again, I will reiterate, shooting 45% as a perimeter oriented player is good efficiency...to suggest otherwise is crazy
When did Lebron play with jump-shooting bigs aside from his second Cleveland stint? He played with two traditional bigs during his first Cleveland stint and his last four years as a Laker. He played with Bosh and UD in Miami who attempted a combined 0.6 3PA per game in 2012 and 1.0 3PA per game in 2013.

Bosh was a catch & shoot big in Mia…he also had to play a ton of 5 to unclog the lane. Being catch & shoot can also be from the baseline, elbow, etc…

Big Z also was a catch & shoot big before Bron left Cle

Bron’s whole M.O. has been unclogged lanes & playing with shooters, so that if the def collapses he kicks it out. Get the bucket or dime.

If Kobe played with more catch & shoot bigs, he’d have more slashing opportunities. He literally had to be a perimeter threat to keep defenses honest.
