Lots of trash takes from Knick thread randoms in here, particularly @Joe Sixpack and @GhostoftheMan

Lots of double talk bullshyt, saying not to waste your assets but then clown the Knicks for not making moves or not being able to make moves vibes.

Knicks got the assets and can hold on to a decent amount of the talent they've accumulated, as well as the picks they've stacked.

It's a clunky roster composition, but it's more collective talent that the team has had in some time.

If having too my illfit pieces means they gotta reconstruct to make better, that's still better than not having the pieces to do anything of consequence.

I don't like the move, but you make the move and figure it all out afterwards. You take the swing. You move towards respectability and thin the fat as necessary so it works.

But you don't send all your youth and all your picks. A balance of picks, redundancies and youth is the move. That makes the trade work. That justifies the haul. You accumulated all these picks just for this moment. You saved those bigger, not so favorable contracts to ensure you have the matching salary. You make the move and don't bat an eye.

BTW, all that corny ass chicken little it's Melo all over again talk needs to stop, too. That Melo trade made us a top team for a quick minute before injuries and a horrible Bargnani trade. I'd make that move every fukking time. Not wait and hope for him to come in free agency. fukk that. Make the move.

In short, a lot of yall really need to shut the fukk up about this because your takes are trash.

Respectfully.

Dawg respectfully if you think gutting the Knicks roster and all their picks for a 6’1 volume shooting SG is the right thing to do you don’t know shyt about basketball

KD?

What?

Who said Mitchell is ass :what:

He’s a 6’1 SHOOTING GUARD who doesn’t defend and shoots too much

All you nikkas do is look at stats and THAT’S IT
Superstars get traded is my point. You can be obtuse all you want with that “Mitchell never requested out” bullshyt when it’s been an open secret for 2 years now he’s wanted to come play in NY.

Bro me @ing you wasn't an invitation for discourse. It was me just letting you know your takes are trash. Go do that back and forth with someone else.

This is Donovan Mitchell in the ‘21 Playoffs…

This is a master class of offense…

He was assisted on almost none of his buckets his offense was almost entirely self created (he was assisted on 13 of his made 105 field goals) and he was the Jazz best offensive player by a wide margin (8.2 offensive box plus minus)…

He averaged 32/4/5 on a 60% TS against the 6th ranked defense (Grizzlies) and the 8th ranked defense (Clippers)…

Watch this it doesn’t matter who is on him whether it was Batum, Jackson, Kawhi, PG-13, Kennard they all got cooked :wow:

Donovan is better than Beal and Lavine that shyt needs to be said. Shai too if were counting him as a permanent 2 guard. Also that little shyt is getting overblown for a guy that's built lile a tank. That man does not like like your typical 6'1" guy hes wide chested pause with long ass arms, he makes other guys around his height look small. Yeah he sucked this year in the playoffs but the Jazz were a team with poor chemistry that wasnt gonna go much farther regardless. Donovan was an absolute KILLER in the prior two playoffs and put on some all time great performances. Donovan has also shown 2 way ability too, and you can reasonably argue that man was gassed from carrying such a heavy payload for so long. On a team with few playmakers and shot creators, Donovan had to focus more on offense, he WAS the offense in a lot of ways, those shooters wouldnt be shyt without him .Here in NY though he'll start along 3 other guys who can create, score and play make to some extent at least. Also, Donovan is a guy who actually makes players better, and in general role players look better on winning teams, so we'll develop other role players who can replace Grimes and IQ and be used for trades. The war chest doesn't have to stay empty once used, and we're fretting over a team that does BETTER with late picks tgan early ones, so much so that you can argue our best pick in the last 5 years was a second rounder in Mitch. Lets stop acting like the last move we'll ever make is getting Spida, any executive ever worth their salt has been known to improvise a bit, and now its time for Rose to start doing the same.
Damn... this post is flames, too.

Aight, I'm okay with Donovan.

But, I want to see RJ, Obi and Grimes still here.

If Grimes has to go in order for the trade to happen; I'm okay with it.

I used my closing thoughts section to talk about that Mitchell trade, and that's mainly that we should chill and see what the actual package turns out to be. There are versions of this trade that I won't like, but also...I'm probably gonna like the trade. Ainge is focused on picks, and I'd happily dump a bunch of them to keep as many young guys as possible. But minutes are finite, and Brunson and Mitchell will take up a lot of 'em. We can afford to trim this roster in order to grab the stability that Mitchell deal brings.

I’m a “wait-and-see” kind of guy. I don’t see any excuse for the Knicks to avoid pushing and making an aggressive offer for a 25-year-old star with local ties. I get that his fit next to Brunson is clunky due to size, but Mitchell Robinson got the bag to clean up for the defense. That worked even when Kemba and Fournier were on the perimeter.

My only word of advice to Knicks fans is not to let the media narratives drive them crazy. Danny Ainge is famous for demanding too much in trades, and Leon Rose has been notoriously conservative. This sounds like a recipe to drag things out and potentially end with an anticlimax where nothing happens. I love New York’s youth, I’ve written thousands of words about their development from game to game…but let’s see if the trade happens and what’s included before we draw conclusions.

So, brehs...

I've thought about this Mitchell to the Knicks situation.

I honestly think WE HAVE to make this trade.

But not for the reasons y'all might think. It's not because he'll move the needle.

It's not because it'll bring a star to the city.

We need to do the trade...
because we need to WIN this trade against Ainge.

Danny Ainge
has a reputation of being savvy. Almost to the point where people claim it's like doing a deal with the devil.

The Knicks have a reputation of LOLKnicks. As a result of decades of ineptitude, poor decision making and being fleeced - this current FO - which has been stellar - seems to find it unfairly difficult to shake the stigma of Knicks FOs of seasons past.

The price of a brick has been inflated by the Gobert trade.

Everyone would expect that Mitchell will garner an unprecedented haul...

And that's before the name Ainge comes into the convo.

This transaction needs to be made specifically so the Knicks can come out looking like they WON the trade.

That alone could - like a flip of a switch - conpletely change the way the sports world views the Knicks because the reputation of Leon Rose would be a force greater than the historic trolling from the sports world.

Leon Rose needs to use his entire influence, expertise and think tank to get Donovan Mitchell for a price that no one - even the biggest knicks haters - could say shyt about.

If it happens, it'll be the biggest and most impactful W for this organization since the 90s.

Brehs, even those of us who don't want Mitchell, need to get on board and hope a trade goes through that shows the knicks understood their leverage, assets and desperation of Ainge.

Let's go...

I'd throw all options on the table with the exception of Obi Toppin is all I'm saying. 6 picks, pick ya youngings but Mitchell and Brunson will have that boy eating good.

My max offer is 3 picks and 2 swaps plus 2 of Obi/IQ/Grimes. Other than that they can suck my dikk.
