Someone who I conder that guy is someone who has been proven, not necessarily a world champion, but someone who can excel consistently. Donovan's package is not worth his play, he has never seen past the 2nd round, isn't a great defender and imo has near reached his ceiling. A hell of a player but not the 1st option on a championship team which is why you trade for him.

And what makes this team better than any of those jazz teams? Especially with the east getting better, this team is at BEST equal to them.

" The Knicks have a shot of compiling a better roster over the years"

Yes that's what we've been doing and we are about to throw it all away to make a "splash" this team just came off of a shyt year after being bounced in the playoffs handedly. Randle has a bad attitude and probably gonna throw a stink if it goes bad and the ball doesn't touch his hands. Donovan has reached his ceiling
How has a guy with a 28/5/5 career playoff stat line who has taken the Jazz as far as they could possibly go given their talent level and roster flaws not proven he can excel consistently?

Who are those guys? Is Trae Young that guy because he made an ECF? Is Devin Booker that guy because his team made a Finals? People in here want Zach LaVine is he that guy even though he hasn’t done anything comparable to Mitchell?

Let’s get a breakdown of who those guys are and which ones could we possibly get? :lupe:

According to what?

What guys have been those guys?
:comeon: Tatum, Giannis, Jaylen Brown, Luka, Lebron, Jimmy Butler, Embiid, Dame, Kawhi, Curry,

KD, Harden, Wade, Kobe, Shaq, Timmy, CP3, Melo, Westbrook all use to be those guys but got older or retired. This is Basketball you know who that guy is.

Mitchell isn’t touch those guys in their prime. He is maybe reaching Zach Lavines/Derozan level, but you can’t trade damn near a whole team worth of players and picks for Zach Lavine level players.

That’s the issue Trae, Devin, and Zach ain’t it either. You don’t trade all your damn assets for those guys or Mitchell.

Lol I'm saying we need to build organically instead of trying to make splashes. I'd much rather have the celtics journey and possibly failing than selling the future for a guy who couldnt get past the 2md round with that amazing play. This team ain't no better than those jazz teams if not worse, but I guess same old knicks shyt. Carmelo but worst flash in the pan

I’m sorry but a back court of Brunson and Mitchell changes nothing

I get the team has to make moves but this has the makings of being stuck in play-in purgatory and at best first round exits

You’re forgetting about Cam who is just scratching the surface

If he has a breakout year AND RJ improves there’s no way Knicks are a play in team

Their “worst” player would basically be D Rose off the bench (who was arguably their best player last season when he played)

Some of those Boston players didn't work out, BUT iirc their 4 guys in Jaylen, Jayson, Smart and Williams were all from pick deals they had. You win some you lose some but danny is doing the exact thing he did in Boston by fleecing teams and working on drafting well. Damn near every team in the playoffs had a core of guys that they drafted and worked on unless it was for a megastar.

This is same old bullshyt that's gonna bite us in the ass, Donovan ISN'T going ti take us to the ring wo there is no point in trading away every thing for him.

This is knicks chasing a big name for nominal success all over again
Brown and tatum were from Brooklyn, the others no. But the other issue is they were trading old players who didn't have much left so their picks(bk) were more valuable than ours would be in that proposed trade. We would still have talent and youth so it's not the end of the world scenario in comparison to the nets draft picks.

We still have plenty of picks and young guys to go along with our main players. You love the young guys now but you won't love them when they want to be paid 20 million a year. You have to move some of them out and just waiting and hoping one of them turns into a superstar isnt going to bear any fruit. They're nice players. I like them. But you secure all stars first and then those nice players after. There isn't any free agent on the horizon. Are we going to win a title with just Mitchell? No, but steps have to be taken to get there. We arent going from dog shyt to title. Only prime lebron would do that.

In order to get stars you have to trade assets this is what it is now.

I want to know who those guys are.

Tell me y’all who are the guys of the NBA :lupe:

Mitchell has 39 playoff games and has scored 30+ points in 19 of them
"Oh but the bubble"
Ok so take out the bubble and it's 30+ points in 15/32 games
Guy is a fukking bazooka on offense
One tough series against Dallas won't change that just like it doesn't for Trae who was terrible against the Heat this year. I know everyone remembers Trae shytting on the Knicks in the Garden last year

What makes bubble guts Embiid that guy?

What makes Jaylen Brown that guy?

What has Dame done in the playoffs that Mitchell hasn’t? Make it one round further in many more tries.

What makes Carmelo that guy? Mitchell has been out the first round as many times as he has by the age of 25.

If there is anyone who hasn’t been that guy in the playoffs it’s James Harden.

Mitchell destroyed Westbrook as a rookie.

Mitchell has had a better career than Zach LaVine.

I’m still not seeing what makes a guy a guy. :mjlol:
