Center is locked up with Mitch, IHart, and Sims
PG is locked up with Brunson, IQ, and Rose
PF is locked up with Randle and Obi

I think this is more or less the guys they bang with for a few seasons in those roles.

With the Wings the Knicks do have an interesting group of RJ, Fournier, Grimes, and Cam. Grimes is doing what he needs to get a chance to start and from there maybe force Fournier to the bench.

A real question is does going to the bench hurt Fournier’s value? At first I was like of course, but there might be teams that see his ability to score off the bench as more valuable than him being a starter. Mix in some draft picks and the Knicks might get a surprisingly good piece that shores up the wings and sets this team up for a few seasons.

Like forget the playoffs because I think they might be good enough for that as is. Imagine a Knicks team that is reliably good season in and out and has a stable roster!

I don’t think it does. The teams who would want him would be contenders for who want him as a bench scorer anyway. Like Boston used him the year before.

It’d also help that the projected bench line-up would have all quality passers for their roles. Rose, IQ,Obi,Hartenstein feels like a recipe for any three point shooter to come in and get their efficiency numbers pumped.

The key would be winning though. It’s wild how different we look at role players when they’re on winning teams vs losing teams. The Bobby Portis phenomenon, if you will. He caught so much hate in NY, but was beloved within half a season on the bucks (a season where his numbers were pretty close to career norms besides efficiency shooting up in a better fit).

I’m projecting a starting 5 of Robinson, Randle, Barrett, Fournier, Brunson.

It’s going to be a lot of the same spacing issues and that backcourt perimeter defense is suspect with two ball watching forwards on top of it and you also have three lefties who thrive in the paint.

Meanwhile the bench unit of Hartenstein, Grimes, Quickley, Rose, Toppin will bring a lot more portability and versatility, more speed, more shooting, more athleticism, more movement.

It can be a rough start to the season if Thibs doesn’t quickly made adjustments. :francis:

My best scenario

C- Mitch,Hartenstein,Simms
Pf-Obi,
Sf- RJ, Reddish
Sg- Quick, Grimes
Pg- Brunson, McBride
2way- Keels, Hunt

Trade Fournier and Randle for Russ(6 Man)
Trade Drose for backup Pf (doesn’t matter)

Don’t Max RJ give a Jaylen Brown type contract
Let reddish and hartenstein be the backup 4

Let everybody cook

Get Thibs head out his ass and not fukk up the rotations this year

That's the nightmare scenario starting-five and also def has a strong chance for happening. Just an iso-heavy, slow-paced offense that's hoping to keep things close until the bench comes in and makes things fun. It took all-pro Randle for that to work last time it did.

Fournier didn’t have a bad season as an individual. He just wasn’t used right, and still broke the Knicks record for most made 3s.

At this point he’s an proven commodity and I think when discussing trades concerning him the Knicks are treating him as such instead of just a throw in.

Some of his value comes from he’s started and came off the bench throughout his career and has been productive in either role

Look at the warriors. GP2, Poole, Wiggins all are premium basketball talent now.

I know you're being pessimistic and shyt but I agree.
as a Mavs fan im a bit salty Brunson left....

but im skeptical how he is going to do in New York....i don't see him having the same spacing that he had with Luka.. but hopefully he proves me wrong.. I want him to do good with yall honestly

If Randle's playing with him. It will be terrible spacing and the team will be humiliating to watch.
