#marvelset and casual MCU fans blessed Sony with a billion dollar flick and now they wanna act like they can do it alone. Venom was trash by the way.

It it wasnt for Marvel, there would be no more spiderman right now.

How you figure? The last two Sony SM flicks grossed 1.4 billion vs the two MCU SM at 1.9 billion. The first 3 SM movies if adjusted for inflation are all billion dollar movies. Even the worst one, SM3. Y'all keep talking out your ass with this angle.

Spiderman the character alone, regardless of who's directing, who is cast or how critically condemned it is will get you $700-800 million at the box office. That's a fact. You can make a bad one and it'll get you $750mil. A good one hyped to holy hell apparently only gets you a literal "couple" hundred million more.

But the video game industry is the biggest threat of all.

Netflix is even once stated that Fortnite is a bigger threat to them than HBO or other streaming services.

I don’t blame Marvel. And shyt like this is exactly why. It’s a huge liability to try to make Spider-Man the cornerstone of the next phase of Marvel films when Sony can fukk their plans up at the drop of a hat. Why invest further into that character if you don’t own the rights outright or at least have an equal partnership? Especially when they’re about to pour billions of dollars into setting up the next mega film. Imagine if someone could’ve taken the Captain America character at any time from 2012 to 2016. It would’ve fukked all those movies up.

That’s the main person I feel bad for if this indeed doesn’t work out. You can just tell Tom was having the time of his life being welcomed in and considered a family member of this universe.

He just always seemed to really be enjoying himself and having so much fun. I can imagine thought it was great filming his own 2 movies, but being in Cap3, A3 and A4 were you major highlights of his young life and career.

To be taken away from that is going to be rough

You do understand it's gonna be the same spiderman right? No matter who is in "creative control" Tom Holland is signed on for another 5 years.

So worst case scenario is u get 2 more spidey films in the next 5 years that had no mcu influence at all but still stars tom holland. Who in the world wants to see that?

1. Spiderman wasnt heavily features in end game.

2. It was #marvelset and casual marvel fans and marvel stans that helped push Spidey to a billion.

And now sony things marvel fans will support their projects fully now. This version of Spiderman will be forever connected to the MCU. If Sony tries to erase that, it will backfire greatly.

i would bet spidey has more fans than the collective of marvel fans. the only problem is that the people driving the spider man bus at sony are drunk behind the wheel and dont know what they are doing.
