I know this thread is old and I didn't take the time to read through the advice in here.
This being The Coli, I assume a lot of it was stupid or overly complex.
The Calories In/Calories Out thing while it has some basis in truth, is a myth that frustrates people more than it helps.
If it were that easy, then weight loss wouldn't be the cottage industry to sell people shyt that it's always been.
The metabolic process is what burns fat. The metabolic process needs fuel (aka food) to start it.
The key is giving the body enough calories to start the metabolism, but not giving it more calories than it can handle.
If you don't give your body enough calories to start up the metabolism, your body will react by storing fat rather than burning it.
The catch is that each person's metabolic needs are different.
People always overlook genetics when preaching about caloric intake.
Exercise is important and people immediately start talking cardio.
Cardio is nowhere near the magic bullet that people think it is.
Overdoing cardio is dangerous. Fatally, so.
More than 30 minutes (15-20, really) of cardio is just masturbation.
People get hype because they see good results in the beginning and automatically think "more cardio= more results"
Increasing cardio more than necessary gets you diminishing returns.
If you just get off on cardio, then do ya thing.
When it comes to food, moderation is key.
We know what's bad for us, so cutting back on fat, sugar, and salt is helpful.
Of course, adding veggies helps
Carbs are not your enemy, but don't over do it.
If you need help with this, a nutritionist is a good way to go.
If you're Black, a Black nutritionist would be best.
Good luck.
