I want to admit that I was wrong.

In the past, I said Phil was a good leader for Xbox. He's not. The strategy that he set out is the reason that they are in the space they are in today and were unable to reverse fortune from the Xbox One generation since he believes that it was/is an impossible task.

Nintendo turned around the WiiU failure with great games for the Switch.

Sony turned around the poor PS3 launch with consistently great titles in the latter half of PS3 years and continued the momentum with PS4.

PS5 is doing well not just because of continuity, it's doing well because it launched with games and they have continued to release quality games at a good rate.

There are many people in the console space who view new generations as fresh starts. Anecdotally, I have a few friends who switched from Xbox One to PS5 since they felt Xbox wasn't doing enough. A huge part of the market doesn't care about their old console's digital libraries as they don't go back and play old games.

Xbox console owners or supporters should feel smacked in the face with the last answer in the Kinda Funny Xcast interview. One of the interviewers asked about the console experience and Phil basically replied thats the console isn't our focus. The console portion of the Xbox platform is just one of the aspects of their strategy so you kinda just get what you get.

I really can't believe he said that thing about games not changing the situation. The games are everything. It's really that simple, it's about the games.

Bring back J Allard and Peter Moore.
Nintendo is nintendo, people aren't abandoning nintendo. On top of that Nintendo didn't turn around the wii u success with just great games for the switch, most people complain about the "quality of the games on the switch because of the hardware. The system and the brand itself is what made switch a success, a lot of games on switch or just HD remakes of games you can't buy on the wii u.
Sony turned around the PS3 because it started locking down deals and because Japan.

A key factor yall are missing is Japan and Sony locking down deals. Everything else is just noise, Until Xbox has a decent foot place in Japan and content from japan 3rd place is just a place they'll have to be happy in the current metrics of what makes the market.

Another example of you being clueless

Nadella put Phil’s ass on the corner to go put out fires. He’s not doing this to be ‘nice’ and transparent about the business he’s doing this because they just lost a 70 billion dollar acquisition and put out a trash fire game right after. He’s doing press because Xbox is taken a beating.

Who is he being ‘nice’ toward? Microsoft would be silent if they could afford to without letting an even bigger narrative spread. The fact that they have their corporate mascot looking flustered and stressed is a bad look.

Phil Spencer ain’t Jim Ryan, he has to talk. You act as if Microsoft is doing us a favor by having phil do interviews lol
This has been scheduled.

Phil chooses to do these interviews.

Japan ain’t turning the tide for no one. No one cares about anything but switch and in turn Nintendo games in Japan.

Microsoft will never be relevant there or most other parts of the world. They can barely manage to be relevant in the US right now

They scheduled it on Friday, which means he knew he was going to be talking about the CMA stuff.

And im positive phil would rather be home playing destiny or vampire survivors than on kinda funny pouring his heart out about being in 3rd place

So did this interview help with the narrative or put fuel on the fire?:jbhmm:
Because if absolutely nothing was said until June 11th dudes wouldn't be in here agreeing with some clickbait thread title.

And they didn't talk about the CMA more than 30 seconds.
Again phil choose to come on and talk about the state of things.

it created a whole new narrative, instead of Microsoft being incompetent and failing at the acquisition, now its they don’t give a fukk about putting out good games at all.

The move was meant to douse fires and it went left. Bad PR from Phil, a rare sight to behold. The king of slick talk got tongue tied, next time he needs to stick to the script.

So like I nice guy phil really just needs to be quite

People are only going to use his interviews for one thing, it's the same reason all "famous" people or stars or anyone in the spotlight doesn't really do a bunch of interviews and use social media. It's always used against them.

And it will sell 10x’s more in the west, its not turning the tide in Japan.
Now imagine if you don't have a foothold in japan and it gets excluded from your system, and that's just 1 of many many many games.
So yes it matters a lot over all. Japan is key, and no big dog in the gaming industry will ever be over PS or Nintendo unless they have solid support coming out of that market.

Microsofts fault, they had plenty of japanese exclusives in 7th gen. Capcom exclusives, Square Enix, Bandai Namco, Koei Tecmo, all the big dogs had exclusives on 360. Microsoft even had their own first party JRPG’s by the man who created Final Fantasy

Again, Microsoft is the common denominator here, you can’t blame everyone else.
