The only way to improve your credit is to improve your income. Fix yourself up and get a sugar poppy if need be.

There is no way around this - Bottom line. Credit is just a perk for people with stable income that will gradually increase every 2 years by at least 10k if you are starting low. If you don't have stable income you don't need to be using credit.

I didn't start fukking with CCs until I made like 85k+. Get your paper up.
Credit has nothing to do with having a stable income and everything to do with managing whatever money you do have. The rule of thumb is if you don't have the money to buy it outright right now and have it not effect you and it isn't something like a house you probably shouldn't be buying it.

People get themselves into credit trouble when they buy stuff they can't afford or buy stuff they technically can afford but don't want to spend the cash on so they charge it and try and keep the cash. If I buy something on a credit card it's usually paid in full before the bill even post. If I let it go beyond that then it's paid a few days after the bill post.

@Brooklynzson need your help or anyone else who can offer advice

Finally thinking about getting a secured credit card most likely for $300 limit

I understand the rules already about paying in full and credit utilization

The issue though is i still have an item in collections from convergent solutions which is Sprint

About $600 plus dollars. ive reached out to them along with the CFPB and they verify it and are stubborn about removing it

Im pissed off because this is what had held me back from getting the card for so long

They say it helps build credit but wont having this collection in my credit report cause me to have a limit of how high my score goes up?

Like wouldnt it make it impossible for me to to say a credit score of 700?

SMH i hate this i feel like they are holding me back, i dont know why they cant just take the fukking thing off

Have you talked to Sprint directly about this?

I had a doctors office bill me and send the bill to my parents PO Box. I didn't find out for a long time after and it was when a collection agency called me about it. I called the doctor's office and paid them over the phone the next time the collection agency called me I told them that bill was already paid. They went back and checked and they had to drop it. I'm not sure it hit my credit report but it's not on there now.

That being said I wouldn't worry about your situation. If that's a legitimate debt then pay or settle it and move on. Over time it won't matter as much.

Qualified for my first $10k card and my first American Express (Schwab Investor Card) yesterday. This same month, I also was approved for the new Uber Visa card ($7,000), and the OG Chase Freedom ($500...added $1,500 from my Chase Slate to boost it to $2k).

Going to finally drop my secured credit card from Capital Bank. It was my first ever credit card; I think the annual fee is $60.

Will apply for the Sapphire Preferred and the UNA-USA card from the United Nations Federal Credit Union a year from now. These and the Visa Platinum from the State Department Federal Credit Union are the only cards I want.

With perhaps some exception to the Uber card and Chase Slate, they all serve specific purpose.

Chase Freedom Unlimited (1.5% cash back): daily driver. Pay for almost everything with this card - groceries, utilities, games, you name it.

Chase Freedom: 5% cash back on quarterly categories. Will use to build up Ultimate Rewards points when I can.

Chase Sapphire Preferred: Will be used as my dining and travel card

Amex Schwab: Extended warranty protection for critical electronic purchases like computer hardware, tvs, home theater components, etc. Also, it has 1.5% cash back which I will set up to deposit into my Roth IRA with Schwab.

Uber Visa: Cellphone insurance, will help lower credit utilization percentage, and will be my Uber card until I get the Sapphire Preferred.

United Nations UNA-USA: Will use when a PIN & chip card is needed when traveling abroad.

State Department FCU: One of the lowest APR cards you can get. No foreign transaction fees. Will use in emergency cases.

Mainly, I'm just Chase's bytch. I like saving money and having perks like price and warranty protection available to me. If you have any interest in traveling at all, I think using Freedom/Freedom Unlimited/Sapphire Preferred to build up Ultimate Rewards points is the way to go.

Chase Sapphire the only one that don't charge exchange rates? Is that a hard card to get?

Asking because everytime I send money overseas to pay my child support through PayPal they charge me around $5 for the conversion.
