I got multiple when I got my car loan.

The pulls and the inquiries show up on your credit report, but they count as 1 hit when it comes to scoring. As long as you did them all within a certain time frame.

Old model scoring required all inquiries to happen within 14 days of the 1st to count as "rate shopping". Under the newer models its 45 days. That's for FICO scores.

I got an automatic CLI on my Discover card a couple weeks ago, went from 8200 to 9800. They should have gave me another 200 for an even 10k :heh:
Apply ever 60-90 days (really 30 but just to be safe) for a CLI on the discover it. My limit is like 28k now :banderas:

I'm looking like  it's my school loans just like dude .

That's why I was asking how did he start tackling them .

The only way to improve your credit is to improve your income. Fix yourself up and get a sugar poppy if need be.

There is no way around this - Bottom line. Credit is just a perk for people with stable income that will gradually increase every 2 years by at least 10k if you are starting low. If you don't have stable income you don't need to be using credit.

I didn't start fukking with CCs until I made like 85k+. Get your paper up.

I havent read all 9 pages, but i just turned 22 last week:

-Ive never had a credit card, but my credit was "good" to pass my background check for the military because ive held a steady job and make payments on time (kay jewelers, best buy, etc)
-Had a friend back home saying he's going to get a credit card to "build up" his credit..in actuality he should be straight .
-Right now im just gonna hold off on getting one until i have kids or something:yeshrug:. When i buy a new car or house i can probably finance it through them.

All i got right now:patrice:

Your friend is actually wise to acquire a credit card right now to build credit (assuming he has the financial sense to pay the CC off monthly and never miss a payment)

As for you, the only way you're going to get a new car or house (without a cosigner) is to start your credit portfolio now. It doesn't hurt to look into seeing if you qualify for a regular credit card (Discover loves thin files, Citi, Chase, etc). Even if you have to settle for a secure credit card, get one now. The best way to make sure you don't put yourself in a bind is to charge a single utility/bill to the CC and then put in a drawer (sock drawer it) and stop thinking about it for a while until you do your research on how to maintain a good credit profile.

The thing is, if you don't have your own decent credit profile, when you finally go for that used/new car loan or lease, you're not going to qualify on your own and you'll be required to have a cosigner with good credit. And don't even think about a mortgage if you don't have a strong credit profile to begin with.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions
