You're trying to establish credit correct or just in case of emergencies and stuff?
If you're trying to rebuild

fingerhut.com, Wards.com, horizoncardservices, milestonecard.com. I was advised by a friend, to get these as they will help show creditworthiness. They are not the typical credit card, as most of them only offer stuff from their site and the prices are ridiculous but if you know how to play the game, they will keep increasing your limit, which will reflect on your score. A lot people make mistakes and think it's something that its not.

For backups during rough times or emergencies, as long as you can control yourself, I would. Though I would rather get one from my credit union.
the prices are ridiculous good or ridiculous bad? Im cheap so...

Hey Friend :blessed:

Well I have a horizons card and I've never purchased anything from them yet. Seen some items I can get in stores for $5, listed for like $15 on their site. And there isn't anything good. They have a lot of old crap. You can only see what they have on their website, after you become a member:what:
When I found out it wasn't a typical credit card, I called back to cancel. They offered to raise my limit from $500 to $1000. I told them nah and we agreed on $1500.I've called back twice since(I've been with them less than a year) I'm at 2250 with them today and will call today to squeeze the extra 250 from them.

To me, they basically exist to keep a positive account on your file, in exchange for their monthly fee. :yeshrug:

After I get what I need, will cancel :yeshrug:

I also have a fingerhut card, and they have much much better and newer items

but the prices still suck.

the other 2 cards are similar but I haven't signed up for them, as I feel I have enough(of those kind of cards) for now.

I've been declined for a credit card. :mjcry:

All I have is a macys card and a 680 score. Only debt is student loans. Should I just settle for a secured credit card? What are the perks for that?:lupe:

They probably declined you because you don't have enough established credit. What card did you apply for?

I only try to use my credit card for small purchases, just to keep a revolving credit line. Other than that, if I can't afford something into my budget, I don't buy it.
We buy everything credit and pay it right off. But we do it for the points. I probably earn about $500-$1000 in credits every year via my points.

What i did when my credit was shyt:

Open a amex serve prepay acct if you want amex or get a savingstar secured amex...pay a bill or 2 every month with it for 6 months to a year similtaneously open Wells fargo or another bank secured card minimum is usually $300..pay this off for a year, never ever miss payment and keep balance at 0 each month, if you cant pay it in full never ever leave more than 20% ending balance.during that year youll start to recieve shytty bootleg cards with high interest...i personally took 2 offers (they get u with the rape annual fee off top but i didnt care i looked at it as a cost to shoot my credit up faster and that upfront annual fee is the balance i would pay on the card i never use em) and after 4-5 months of repeating the previous process with the new high interest cards i started to recieve major card pre approval letters..some people might then close but i kept the high interest cards usually you can get the companys to wave the next annual fee or lower to practicaly nothing just threaten close account always works. Keeping them open it helps keep your acct history length and credit utilization up just never use em except to buy mcdonalds or somethin each month to show some activity..fyi Merrick bank is a good card if you gotta go the high interest bootleg card route they double your balance after 6 months if you make your payments on time. All That led to:

Amex - Blue cash $8k
Delta skymiles $13k

Discover - Chrome it $7k

Chase - Freedom - $13k
Slate -$8.5

Citi - Double cash $4.5
Diamond preferred $8k

After maybe 6 months of paying the major cards on time keeping utilization under 20% Call and ask for soft pull credit increase. American express i think you can get every 4 months also i think discover the same.citi i think is every 6 months and i know chase doesnt do credit increase witjout a hard pull , i think they are available every 6 months. most of these you can actually request online

brehs who already have cards with high interest credit card debt should get the Citi Diamond preffered it has 21month 0% introductory offer including balance transfer(3% or $5 whichever greater) this def can give you relief and some time from the interest hamster wheel if u have high interest balances. That is by longest the best 0% introduction offer I've seen. Any card I own that has a balance with interest at mid month i usually transfer to the diamond preferred card for example I will do this with my delta amex I just got this month which has 19% interest rate. i used it for a purchase of $1500 just to get my free 30k miles after signup. I will use that card to accrue miles but will never keep a balance on it just transfer to any 0% cards I may have. no expert but i hope I wrote clear enough so some of this will help some of the coli brehs and brehettes out there.

A nonsecured credit card from my bank wells Fargo with the lowest credit limit. They said I could get a secured card but that just sounds like a debit card to me. I'm new to credit tho so I'm not sure how a secured card benefits me.

Lost almost ten points from my credit score after the apartment complex for the loft I applied for did their inquiry :beli:

I didn't even get approved because they wanna bring up old collections from years ago that been paid off :pacspit:

I'm applying for that Discover Secure Card to help build my score up .

Credit karma is free to dispute anything In your credit. Look into that.
I used transunion, which is 20$ a month, I disputed a few things in collections took a couple of weeks but eventually I got two items removed from collections and my credit score raised 49 points.

Got an AMEX a couple months back, applied for a chase sapphire today and they approved me for $16,200 :dahell:

I just wanted 5k :ehh:

My credit repair story needs to be in a blog or something.

595 - 767 in 12 months...I was surely in the 520s before that.
A few years ago I was at a fico score of 570 now I'm at 820. Went I moved into my current apartment I couldn't get more than a $900 limit on my credit card and today Amex has me sitting with a $12,000 limit I never asked them for.

Building credit was easy when I got a decent job. I consolidated all my debt and just this month I made my last payment on that 3 year loan.

Outside that loan I've been living debt free for 2 years now. Also makes it easier to keep a high fico score.

My shyt is all over the place It's consistently above 800 but some places report way higher than others. Also Credit Karma the last I listen isn't a real score lenders actually use last I heard and is inaccurate. My AAA insurance uses some other type of score that says I'm a 755.
