I dug myself in a hole but I'm determined to climb myself out :mjcry: I only got 2 cards but my usage is high on both. My highest credit line is only 1k, I need a CLI badly to balance everything out, but I'm not asking them to do it, I'll just wait and let them do it themselves.

I been slacking lately. That 5k card i got already has a 600 balance I need to pay off. Zero interest until next June and I can pay it by the end of next month but i just don't like letting my balances go too high. Score seems stagnant lately. Need to clear that balance and see if much changes.

Not sure how I missed this thread but I'm bumping it, family! :blessed:

I've been working hard on my credit and got an updated score today.
My issue is I have very little credit history which is hurting my score:

Experian - 723 / Trans - 708 / Equifax - 626 (:mjcry:)

The only credit cards I have are:

Secured credit card - $1k limit (got this to get activity on my credit report)
Credit card through my credit union - $3k limit

I'm thinking about apply for a Chase credit card in hopes to get a decent limit and get more activity going.

But Idk brehs :lupe:

Who services your secured card? Why don't you wait the 12 months or so til they can just upgrade you? If you're batting secured at this point you might as well ride it out, not worth the risk to your credit by applying for a reg card. Also weird that those scores vary so widely- what app/program do you use?

And before anything else, definitely do a check of pre-quals across Cap, Chase, less likely for positives with Citi and Amex but you want to look at interest rates too. If they're higher than 15-16 I wouldn't even bother applying.

Opensky Secured Credit Card. The credit repair program I'm in recommended me to get their secured card. It's nothing fancy but it's something.

Credit Check Total (creditchecktotal.com). Been using them for a minute. Need to get Credit Karma but been slacking.

With a secured card I have to upload money on there for them to increase my limit. They match you what you load.

Yeah, I'm going to see if I prequalify for Chase... Otherwise, I'm going to keep working on increasing my score. Thanks, breh.

Yikes, OpenSky is that payday loan company with those high ass rates :sadcam:

Your best best is to get a CapOne, they take lower credit to start and you'll at least get with a major issuer. I think all of them except Amex have at least one secured product but do the prequals first and see what happens (don't forget to check the aprs).

And enrolling in CK is easy, you just put your info in and can get scores weekly, doesn't affect your score. It isn't all that accurate but it's a good gauge and you can at least to see what's showing up on your reports.

Also, be very careful about how much you're using.

I'm not sure on the payday loan part but I would not recommend anyone get OpenSky (OpenSky Secured Credit Card Home Page).
They take a week to process your payments, high interest rates and $100 annual fees :damn:
I didn't know breh, I swear I didn't know.:mjcry:

I want to cancel the card (only used it twice for gas) but I heard cancelling new credit cards will negativity affect your score.

So, I'm just going to tuck it away somewhere for now.

I use myfico.com to see my actually scores. It's not free tho. I have about 4 cards and I'm going to get a secured card from my bank as well.

It's all a game of chess to me. Once you figure it out. Start reducing your debt to income and calling all your creditors.

Knowing what I know now, I would advise against an agency to help fix your credit.

I'm trying to buy a house come this November.

I know of some easy cards one can sign up for that will help them build their credit

Anybody know a way to ask for an increase in credit limit without having a job? How much should I ask for? I work tax free. My limit is at 2500 right now

Last time I checked it was like 10 points under excellent

Ask for what you need and confirm what you already put down.

Let me ask you a question. Should I try to apply for a unsecured card? I have the discover secured credit card but was told two credit cards are better for one for a multitude of reasons especially as a backup plan. CreditKarma puts the odds of me getting a CK platinum card at very good.

You're trying to establish credit correct or just in case of emergencies and stuff?
If you're trying to rebuild

fingerhut.com, Wards.com, horizoncardservices, milestonecard.com. I was advised by a friend, to get these as they will help show creditworthiness. They are not the typical credit card, as most of them only offer stuff from their site and the prices are ridiculous but if you know how to play the game, they will keep increasing your limit, which will reflect on your score. A lot people make mistakes and think it's something that its not.

For backups during rough times or emergencies, as long as you can control yourself, I would. Though I would rather get one from my credit union.
