What is is about "exponential growth" that people find hard to understand? The "context" is looking backwards and forwards to avoid future perils, is it not?
Conclusion: Exponential growth ain't that deep but it's key to why drastic actions are being taken.
Posted this in the other thread and posting it here for those who need perspective:
Sources: WHO, CDC, EDCD, NHC, DXY, and local reports.
- 8 Billion People Total in the World.
- 149,700 People currently have Corona as of today
- 5,614 People Have died due to Corona as of today.
- 72,060 Have recovered from the virus as of today.
Conclusion: Keep your nasty asses clean like you’re already supposed to and realize it’s not that deep

I figured out the best way to explain the problem and why people are concerned, even with initial small numbers of victims.
AIDS/HIV started with 1 or a few people and look where we are now.
Estimates are that each coronavirus victim infects 2 - 3 others.
Each Wuhan coronavirus patient infects 2 or 3 new people, scientific analyses show
So on Sat it was reported that there were 1400 victims worldwide. Lets say (it doesn't state) that the 2 -3 people is per week, and let's use 3 for dramatic effect.
In that scenario in less than 4 months everyone on Earth would be infected.

Yeah it's not quite that simple, but point being that exponential growth accelerates quickly.
