Western Europe's death numbers are in line with the States. I dont think compliance is the only explanation.

This is true, numbers are around 900 deaths/1 million. But it should be noted that the US is lagging by a month or two when it comes to waves. Cases in Western Europe's second wave have peaked while the US is about to.

It's the difference between between a guy seeing a bad ass chick and saying he'd hit it raw and nut in her and you telling that same guy she's got AIDS or herpes. Suddenly he's not hitting that anymore. Same woman if he didn't know he'd do it without question.

If people think the threat to them is real they act different. With COVID it's not a clear and present danger to most people. The threat is invisible. Here we all know the threat is real but out in society people don't see it that way. That death toll is just a number on the TV to them. That's not gonna happen to them that's other people.
